@1lenore Lenore’s probable next tweet: 60% “San Diego is so hot right now.” 40% “Who wants to drive to San Diego?”

A Maine Coon breeder I admire has two neutered males, ages 5 and 6, one red tabby, one brown tabby whose owner passed away suddenly. I do not need two more cats in my life, but gosh would I love two more giant beautiful cats in my life. I also do not need a trip to San Diego.

@AskAboutAnimals @samanthaiam I was pondering the drag as well. It seems to me that if the drag was significant, the turtle would have evolved techniques for removing the remora. Following that logic, the drag must be below the threshold of significant caloric expenditure, right?

I spotted a sea turtle and a remora fish while snorkeling! What type of symbiotic relationship is this? 1. Mutualism 2. Commensalism 3. Predation 4. Competition 5. Parasitism

@damonmc @raymondh One sec, join() does not allow multiple arguments... and here I thought almost all the standard library functions did. I also discovered that it doesn't promote integers to strings, so ",".join([1,2,3]) doesn't return "1,2,3" like it should :-)

@raymondh Python 2.7's docstr was better: Return a string which is the concatenation of the strings in the iterable. The separator between elements is [this string]. A minimal version that captures the gist: Concatenate the strings in the iterable, using this string as the separator.

#Python crowd sourcing: The docstring for str.join() has as awkward sentence that only makes sense after you know what the method does. Can you suggest an improvement? "The string whose method is called is inserted in between each given string."

@damonmc @raymondh Is this a situation where the one-liner docstring could include an example: Returns the concatenation of the given iterable(s) with the [self] string as the separator (i.e. ",".join(['a','b','c']) returns "a,b,c").

People often ask me what present they should give a child. I have one universally positive answer: give them a pocket knife. At #tinkeringschool we like the #Opinel because of the locking blade and good handle. #giveakidaknife
