The big winner in this whole deal....Wenonah High School...they should have been the smallest 5A school

As part of Scottsboro’s move to 4A, the AHSAA announced that Douglas High School is moving to Region 8 for football.

When did the Braves start training at the 49ers facility?
Mark Bowman@mlbbowman
Hurston Waldrep had some elbow discomfort this week. A MRI showed loose bodies, but the ligament seemed fine. He will see Dr. Meister this week. The Braves don’t know how long he might be out.

@ALPreps Go ahead and add an NIT bracket for the remaining 8 teams

The AHSAA is looking to expand the 6A playoffs moving forward from 16 to 24 teams. Coaches supposedly unanimously accepted it. It's with the idea that it will "create more competitive match-ups in later rounds."
First do you agree that it will do that and should the 5th and 6th seeds from each region make the playoffs?

@CoachVPitts @HallTechSports1 @ScottButtram Another thing to consider is the fact that the State of Alabama doesn’t provide any funding for athletic programs in K-12.

Well as I understand it…a number of member schools were not happy that the AHSAA would not allow CHOOSE Act funds. They met with the Association & the Association upheld their ruling. Said schools did not like the ruling & complained to the government. I could be wrong about every bit of this. I wasn’t at the meeting.
The AHSAA upheld their interpretation of the rule. The state sued & that is their right. If a judge orders that the law was broken so be it. Both the AHSAA & the government “did what they had to do”. With that said, I don’t necessarily disagree with your first paragraph.
You are certainly correct that public schools in the state of Alabama are under the purview of the government. I would argue, more specifically, that they are funded by the government, overseen by the ALSDE, a dept of the government, but are managed by local boards of education.
However, funding public education and governing extracurricular activities have always been separate. State government has never governed extracurricular activities, including sports, & they have never decided what sports association a school can or can’t be a member of, as evidenced by the every existence of the AHSAA. The AHSAA was established as a way to govern athletics…because there was no governing body. The member schools formed the association and all members are voluntary members.
Furthermore, in 1968, as part of the federal court case Lee v. Macon, the order mandated that there be only one high school athletic association for the state.
It seems more complicated than demanding that public schools shall not be part of, or shall be part of an athletic association. I certainly appreciate the power & authority of the government, but i have to believe that there is a better way to solve the problem than mandating public school association membership one way or another.
I don’t like all of the AHSAA’s rules but a schools membership in an athletic association is voluntary. I hope we keep it that way. I hope our association stays one association with one set of rules & I hope coaches & administrators can change what we don’t like.
Appreciate the respectful debate!!

He's the AD at Thompson High School and seemingly completely in the dark about one of the biggest stories in the state that directly impacts the sports he's responsible for. Wow.
Coach Pitts@CoachVPitts
🥴 Make my day!! I wasn’t aware that we could just not like the AHSAA rules, demand change and then call the government when our demands weren’t met. Kick us out… I don’t agree with all of the rules any way. Don’t tempt me with a good time. We follow the rules because we agreed too…not because we like them. 🙄🤦♂️ @HallTechSports1

@amazon please have some reach out to me about the delivery driver tearing my yard up earlier...I was on the phone with customer service for 20 minutes and they hung up on me. Thanks

Buffalo had all the momentum and went for two....the Eagles had done absolutely nothing the entire second half on offense. Why go for 2? #BillsMafia

What is it about the #Steelers and their top WR always creating a problem for the team....This loss is on DK.

@BurnerLJohnson I'm not sure why 17 is still returning kicks....100% should call for a fair catch every time

I'm fairly certain CKD could find a better punter at the intramural fields than we currently have. #RollTide

How is it possible that Bama doesn't have a punter better than this guy? #RollTide
