@CalcioCLE @MartinoPooch Sport articles on pg53 and a brief quote of the PM along other athletes it means the whole country is pumped up? My, I already knew it was a stupid argument we had for days, but if I knew this was the premise I wouldn't even engage...

Yes you have proximity. I get it, your only claim. Based on multiple sports articles and the prime Minister bringing it up. Along with friends in Italy. But you said nobody. Asking someone to clarify their stance should not cause so much crying. I honestly think you should find your mommy and cry to her. It would’ve less embarrassing.

If you love Italy but you have a problem with Catholicism, you hate the very thing, the crucial ingredient, that makes Italy as lovely as it is.

@megha_lilly Indeed, great post. For example, Bologna has the world's first university because of Catholicism not Left wing red politics.

@MufasaZero7 @megha_lilly Italian identity was created in opposition with the church. Italy is much more than its religion and it has always been like that

@megha_lilly It’s really hard to appreciate Italy’s history and culture without acknowledging the deep influence of Catholicism on its identity.

@megha_lilly That's BS. Italian identity is not shaped by Catholicism in the way you think it is. That's what Americans think we are

@CalcioCLE @MartinoPooch I told already that it most likely didn't make a dent in ratings otherwise it'd be mentioned by someone, yet you still went on dismissing this notion, insisting I give you a number. Anyway, now "Italy" is finally out, we can all go back to ignore baseball

@giacofracassi @MartinoPooch Give it up. You could also be right. Learn a lesson, when you keep saying anecdotal evidence over and over again eventually someone will ask you to clarify your position. Grow up

@CalcioCLE @MartinoPooch Dude, you basically coerced me into giving you an imaginative number so that you can tell me I'm wrong about my country because you guys desperately wanna believe we care about baseball

@CalcioCLE @MartinoPooch So you're basing your assumption on the presence of articles on the topic? That's the criteria? Man, that's hilarious. The team being a one-off will also ensure that as soon as they're out nobody, but for real, will remember it

@giacofracassi @MartinoPooch “15 minutes of fame” and saying “everything I read in Italy Italians seem pumped” is basically the same thing. This team won’t be back next year. It’s a one time thing.

@CalcioCLE @MartinoPooch Dude I told you in my previous post. If the criteria is 15 minutes of fame then anything about 0.5% really, considering how not popular baseball is

@CalcioCLE @MartinoPooch So now it's 15 min of fame? You were saying about Italy being pumped up. If that's the criteria, anything, even 1% answer your question

@CalcioCLE @MartinoPooch Let me ask you then what is the number that would show that people in Italy do care about baseball, according to you. Because besides telling you that TV ratings on the only match on prime time don't seem to reflect any interest I really don't know what else I could say.

@Splashes4ever @pamsson The other people disagreeing are other Americans. Everyone else understands that after some generations a gap forms, as the country of origin changes and the immigrants assimilate. And they are forcing me to believe that we're the same, when we very clearly are not

@giacofracassi @pamsson You believe that such differences are enough to sever ties to their ancestry, and that's your opinion. As you can tell, most other people believe very differently. If they're not coming at you trying to force you to believe, why are you attacking them for disagreeing with you?

WTF are you talking about?
Giacomo Fracassi@giacofracassi

@pamsson No, I don't think a guy should play for Italy just because his name sounds Italian to you. Because the next step is considering someone like Jannick Sinner not Italian because his name sounds different. One should play for Italy if they're Italian citizens

@CalcioCLE @MartinoPooch I'm not changing my criteria, I keep saying that none cares and I stand by it. You've been trying to hang me on some numbers to prove something, in the process pretending to know about my country from the other side of the world

You are the equivalent of people in America saying no one cares about soccer. Then their evidence is that there are more watched sports. It really shows a lack of awareness and understanding. So like I said nothing would sway you anyways because you change your criteria of what would be considered popular based on what you already want to believe. You just want to believe no one cares, even if the evidence clearly points otherwise, definition of bad faith argument.

@CalcioCLE @MartinoPooch A sport newspaper would cover every sport, that's the whole point. The article is at the very end of the newspaper, saying it represents a growing interest in the spot is misleading

@Splashes4ever @pamsson Those few things did happen though and they became American. It is indeed a strong enough culture to override ties, proof is that they don't speak the language, among other things

@giacofracassi @pamsson They also happen to be the Americans who are most closely related to you. Had a few things turned out differently, their grandparents may not have even emigrated and they would have been homeland Italians. "American" is not a strong enough culture to override ties of ancestry.

@giacofracassi @cernogoraz @GiorgiaMeloni I have to read the verdict to figure out what went wrong. The Italian Supreme Court for 78 years has consistently ruled that these people were substantially citizens, that the transcription was a mere formality. What changed? Why now it is not a formality anymore?
