Hey @elonmusk, I ve seen many people debating whether or not the positioning of the B-Pillar cameras could be an issue for L5 autonomy in the future. What metrics did Tesla use when determining the current position of the 8 cameras is sufficient for L5 autonomy?

@SawyerMerritt I wouldn’t read into this the way you are. He never said that AI5 *wont* go into cars. The goal of this tweet is clearly to stop people from holding off on purchasing a new car waiting for AI5 to come out.

@TimDOES My best guess is that FSD supervised comes at cost X, and FSD unsupervised comes at cost X + c where c is enough such that it would cover any lawsuits or whatever that can happen (c becomes very low, approaches zero as it gets better).

If FSD Supervised and FSD Unsupervised coexist in the future, what will FSD Supervised be? Will it require eyes on the road? 👀 Will it require a human in the driver’s seat but they can watch a show? 📺 Will it only require a human to be in the car? 🧍‍♂️

@wholemars What has become absolutely clear is that the plethora of self-driving corner cases can only be solved with real-world optical intelligence. This is how humans designed the road system to work. Once you have that in silicon form, everything else is just icing on the cake.
