Just started reading this with my boy. I would have loved this book as a kid. The world and creatures hooked me right out of the gate. The exact kind of story I loved growing up. Fantastic beasts and worlds. If you got young boys hungry for adventure, check out @raconteur_press's books for boys lineup.

When I retired from the military I felt the same way and pushed everyone away. The one thing I learned was it is important to focus only on my family and myself. I spent too much time dwelling on the unimportant things. I realized no matter how hard I tried I would not make everyone happy. I still struggle but every time I do I look at my family and the life I have lived and I am thankful.

@jakonrath So is my wife! When my favorite moments is when she was reading my story for Cannon was that was very diabolical! My WIP is a YA novel. It is fun to hear her laugh at the jokes!

My wife is my beta reader, and some of my favorite moments of the year are the days I finish a book and let her dive in and listen to her laughing like hell. Makes me feel great, like I'm the funniest person alive. When writers ask me for my writing advice, I always say, "The best thing you can do is marry my wife." The other day I heard her giggling her ass off, and I investigated and asked what was so funny, and she showed me a picture. Someone had made an igloo out of egg cartons. I now doubt my entire life.

I have a secret to share with my dear American friends. If you're thinking of visiting Japan, there's a way to make your dream come true for free. Want to know? It's by joining the military. The Navy might be a good choice. The Air Force is also good. The Marines are fine too. The Army is also an option, but the U.S. Army in Japan is small, so if you want to come to Japan, I recommend the Navy or Air Force. So, patriots! Serve your country and get a free ticket to Japan!

World Book Day tomorrow! My lad’s keen to go as Felix from ‘The Weird Map in Mr Glimm’s Skull.’ Considering the character is based on him, I think he nails it 🤘 What do you think, @raconteur_press ?

When in the Course of human Events, it becomes necessary for Creatives to dissolve the Institutional Bands which have connected them with another... We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all artists are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Freedom from Censorship, Postmodernism, and Egalitarianism—That to secure these Rights, Organizations are instituted among Artists, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of their Voluntary Participants, that whenever any Form of Organization becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of Creatives to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Organizations, laying their Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Virtue and Truth. Dear Senator/Representative, I am writing as a United States military veteran to respectfully request your immediate attention to the Department of Veterans Affairs’ recent interim final rule regarding disability ratings and the impact of medication. This rule allows the VA to reduce a veteran’s disability rating based on how well symptoms are controlled with medication, rather than the underlying service-connected condition itself. In practical terms, this means that a veteran who follows medical guidance and responds to treatment could be considered “less disabled” and receive lower compensation, even though the injury or illness remains permanent and directly tied to military service. For many current veterans, this creates the risk of reduced benefits at future evaluations or when filing new claims. It effectively treats symptom control as a cure, despite the continued need for medication, ongoing medical care, and the long-term effects of service-connected conditions. This places veterans in an unfair position: either accept reduced compensation or fear that proper treatment could work against them. The long-term impact on future veterans is even more concerning. If this policy remains in place, service members who suffer injuries or illnesses in the line of duty may receive significantly lower disability ratings simply because modern medicine helps them function. This undermines the core purpose of VA disability compensation, which is to recognize and compensate for permanent service-connected harm, not just temporary outward symptoms. Such a policy sends a troubling message to those who serve and those considering service: that the nation’s promise to care for its veterans can be reduced through administrative rule changes. Many veterans see this as a betrayal of the commitments made to them when they volunteered to serve. I respectfully urge you to work with your colleagues to review, challenge, and overturn this rule, and to ensure that any changes to disability policy protect the rights and benefits of both current and future veterans. Veterans kept their promise to this country. It is now Congress’s responsibility to ensure that the country keeps its promise to them. Thank you for your time, your leadership, and your continued support of the men and women who have served. Respectfully,
