There's some not uninteresting variation from song to song. Delete the mush-mouthed vox and the record improves by 67% (that applies to most rock bands). Overall, more engrossing than the National and Greta Van Fleet. 2/2

Listened to Geese's Getting Killed for the first time—hey, I was trying to stay pure. Oh well. “Trinidad” is the closest a popular group has sounded to U.S. Maple in a minute. “100 Horses” got the “Sing A Simple Song” funk. “Bow Down” bears similarities to post-Damo Can. 1/2

So many people missing the point of this music promo debacle. The issue is NOT people paying for promo. That's a given. I'd pay for promo on my music and have done many times. I have a campaign running right now for an upcoming release I've paid a promo company to mailout to DJ's - this is normal promo behaviour. The issue is there are promo companies taking money and creating thousands of fake bot accounts to produce fake engagement and posts to train the algorithm to feed music to people. I've not seen that spoken of like this before. This promo company talking about it on a stage / podcast is absolutely wild because it shows they think it's acceptable. This is not about the band in question. I have no opinion on their music. The problem is that the industry (or promo companies attached to it) seem to think this is fair-game. I don't have an issue with people getting paid to post about a song coming out. As long as the engagement is real afterwards. All this account botting being spoken of publicly like it's acceptable behaviour from music promo companies is CRAZY.
