BREAKING: In #Israel’s War Cabinet, overseeing the offensive force against #Iran, sits not only the Minister of Defence and the head of the General Security Service, but Michael Eisenberg, the venture capitalist associated with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation and the Board of Peace. When those who finance and engineer politicized “aid” architectures take a seat at the table of war, spare us the lectures on neutrality and impartiality. Humanitarian relief is not a branding exercise, it is governed by law.

Manchester United fans unveiled a pro-immigration banner during Sunday’s fixture against Crystal Palace in response to comments from minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The banner was displayed by supporters in the corner over the tunnel at Old Trafford before the second half of the Premier League match kicked off. It read: “MUFC proudly colonised by immigrants” and pictured seven international players who have represented the club: France’s Eric Cantona and Patrice Evra, Park Ji-sung of South Korea, Portugal’s Bruno Fernandes, Norway’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Amad of the Ivory Coast and Brazil’s Casemiro. In February, Ratcliffe said in an interview with Sky he believed the United Kingdom has been “colonised by immigrants”. More from @lauriewhitwell nytimes.com/athletic/70786…

The UN Security Council — reduced to irrelevance. Before the Iraq War, the United States at least pretended to seek legitimacy at the Council. It failed and invaded anyway. Today, there isn’t even a pretense of respect for international law. And from the Secretary-General? Platitudes, paralysis and silence where it matters most.

Government of Bangladesh is deeply concerned about the welfare of its citizens in the Middle East in the wake of recent hostilities in the region including Iran. The suspension of air traffic and air space is affecting Bangladeshi workers destined for Middle East. The government has already requested all the relevant countries to allow our stranded citizens including workers destined for the Middle East to enter when the situation improves and received assurances from some of the countries in this regard. Bangladesh authorities have also taken measures to accommodate the needs of stranded workers at different airports in Bangladesh. Bangladesh has initiated actions to ensure the safety and security of its premises in Tehran, its diplomats and other staff in the Embassy, as well as Bangladeshi students in Iran. Bangladesh regrets the failure of negotiations and expresses deep concern at the latest escalation of hostilities in the Middle East. It re-emphasizes the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of every country in the region. It strongly believes that conflict brings no solution and only dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international law can resolve disputes. It also urges all parties to exercise maximum restraint, avoid further escalation, and immediately pursue diplomatic efforts to de-escalate. Bangladesh reaffirms its consistent position in favor of peace, stability, and security in the Middle East and calls upon the international community to intensify efforts towards restoring calm and facilitating dialogue. This evening Hon’ble Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ms. Shama Obaed Islam, Hon’ble Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Mr. Humaiun Kobir and Foreign Secretary held an emergency meeting to review the evolving situation in the Middle East. During the meeting they also spoke to the Head of Bangladesh Mission in Tehran.
