Before Rebirth came out, Aerith and clerith haters were like 'you're gonna get nothing, prepare yourself lol' and now every day I see clips of them crashing out at the ending of Rebirth, at Cloud and Aerith holding hands after the battle and having a cute goodbye.

Do you mean acting like Zack, assuming his false identity? Of course, because for Cloud, the only way he thinks Tifa will pay attention to him is if he stops being himself. How romantic and not at all toxic
Because do squats is a move of Zack, and if Cloud does that in his fabricated memory, it's not to impress Tifa; it's because he's acting like Zack. That's why in the memory he acts so animated and different from how he really is—because he's remembering Zack and simply projecting his image onto his own performance.
