This is the paradox of @Apple being "poor" at AI:
> to better serve users, you need to track them.
> to better track users, you need to save their info and mine same.
> to better save their info, you need to relinquish privacy.
> to relinquish their privacy means your AI solutions won't be up to par.
It's clear why Apple can't "catch up". Not necessarily because they can't, but because catching up means sacrificing their ethos of privacy.

A big part of it is culture. The African diaspora even without corruption isn't particularly entpreneuerial, at scale.

Part of the reason Africa is poor is because we failed to develop corporations.
When small companies become large companies, large companies do a number of useful things.
1 they provide jobs en masse
2 list on local stock exchanges bringing in foreign investors and rewarding local ones
3 they create wealthy people who invest in small companies
4 they pay taxes that enable governments to provide social serves
5 they are the main customers for smaller companies a proportion of which will become large companies by serving them....then the cycle continues

Corporations were a capitalist miracle. Before corporation everyone was just doing their own small thing in ways that didn't scale, unable to work in areas that they were skilled because they had to do everything. 9-5 jobs make the best of most peoples talents without the stress of entrepreneurship.

An initial startup idea can't usually be both grand and precise. In practice they're usually either grand and vague or precise and small. Precise and small is better. You know who your initial users are, and you expand outward. With grand and vague you can't even get started.

Meetings that were supposed to take few minutes would extend to 1 or 2 hours and end without any progress.
Since it was a remote setting, some people will be literally cooking food and when they turn on their microphone to speak, you’ll be hearing sounds from pot.
Or do I mention when I texted a colleague on slack and he was not responding on time and I had to huddle? Well, his girlfriend (I suppose) joined the huddle and told me to stop disrupting the movie she was watching on an official laptop.
You’ll take your own job serious and try to have async conversations but global talent will tell you he went out to cut his hair and he’s not close to his laptop during work hours. You then check the general channel and he did not indicate he will be offline for a few minutes.

@Xy63ry0rx @julian__duru I can’t imagine that UIs can ever be completely replaced by a AI chat interface though? I don’t even want to explain how unlikely this is because it should be so obvious. The tweet must be rage bait

like a platform with frontend UI calling APIs to function
now with AI most of those are replaced to just a chat interface
yes the Ai still uses api but i think that’s what he meant

Merge in git means a very specific action of combining two histories of code into one. Asking to pull a commit (or chain of commits) from one branch/repo to another is not a merge.
