This looks suspiciously like the Neurio which got rebranded to the Generac Pwrview... If so it can do more than Tesla is using it for - it can detect and track usage per device. I have one to track solar use vs home use and another to track charging across all vehicles. Great little devices!

@ChadMoran Is this separating LFP from the nickel (NCA/NCM/NMC) packs? If it isn't... it's not super useful because of the significant differences.

@RobWerksman @ChadMoran S/X have completely different cell chemistry and design, and before 2021 completely different pack design as well. Would still be interesting to see the data.

@SawyerMerritt Pack design looks like it's straight outta 2012/2016 Model S. I'm guessing that's why the charge rate is so low, the cooling in that design is quite poor.

@MountainPassEV @brandenflasch I think somewhere between double and triple would match race gas prices. I think it would be possible to do 75kw dispensers and share between 3 people for a day.

@brandenflasch How do we feel about this price - if it's at a racetrack? Would you still be offended, or do you think people would reflect on the low utilization and high costs the racetrack incurred? Asking for no specific reason... 😁

@elonmusk @Tesla I'm sorry but I'm pretty mad at Tesla. I just bought what I thought what was the last S plaid. But now I find out there is a Signature Edition. I have bought $600k on high preformance Teslas and I didn't get an invite. Very very disappointed.

This is what I was sold too when I got my setup (from someone else, not Tesla.) I even pointed out that I thought the sizing was wrong, and provided data that I thought made the case but the engineer said I was wrong and didn't have a good answer why. I didn't have other good options so I went with their suggestion. In addition to the 1.15->1.25 rule, I also was told there the idea is that the smaller (string) inverters require less power to turn on, and therefore collect more energy during that time than when the inverter clipped. This appears to just be completely wrong - I've not found any data from a system in the last 5-10 years where this would have been good information, maybe 20-30+ years ago when the power electronics were not as advanced? I did the math after watching the data from my system and determined my inverter was in fact too small to maximize output. I checked with others and found the same issue - the '1.25x rule' is often wrong imo. I also figured out that no one designing my install paid attention to the ambient temperatures when considering sizing which is shocking given they also live nearby! Given the cold temps, I was clipping on many of the days over almost 9 months, not just the 3-4 they were thinking in the mid-summer. Whoops. I eventually bought the inverter I wanted originally and swapped it out and found out there wasn't any difference in the turn-on power, and the inverter's <$500 difference in cost was made up in less than two year's worth of extra energy.

I still find this inverter clipping annoying AF. Tesla installed more solar than inverter.

@Financesimple18 @business It depends a bit on how they define cost, but basically all of the companies selling EVs in the US besides Tesla are doing so below cost.

@brandenflasch I think people understand there's trade-offs to every choice and faster charging doesn't make sense compared to the trade-offs. If there was some magic charge faster button that didn't affect anything else everyone would push it.

@brandenflasch I personally assume the Chinese are sacrificing battery life for these insane charging speeds. We will know in a few years if that's the case.

Am I the only one who genuinely does not care about Roadster? It’s completely unattainable for 99% of car enthusiasts. It flies, so what? It can break land speed records, so what? It looks pretty in a car show, so what? It’s a party trick car I don’t get it

NEWS: Tesla has filed new trademark applications for its next-generation Roadster, hinting that the unveil is drawing closer. The first application includes a stylized “Roadster” wordmark, while the second includes what seems to be the Roadster’s new design. USPTO filings below:

@niccruzpatane The 3 pack can't come anywhere near the power of the S pack, so the motors would be wasted. They need a new 3 pack first.

Question for Americans from a dumb Aussie about the Minnesota thing. Obama used ICE to deport approx 3M illegals, and got the nickname "Deporter in Chief". And he wasn't even voted in on doing that. There were some protests, but nothing even remotely violet or crazy. Why is now everyone so violet and crazy? Is there any other explanation apart from Orange Man Bad?
