There are actually many additional fixes and new features with this release (including a --modernbindings option to turn all keystrokes into more modern standards: ^X->cut ^V->paste ^Q->quit).
Check out the release details here: lists.gnu.org/archive/html/i…

Very entertaining video from @thelinuxcast where a long-time vim user challenged to use nano for 30 days.

@talhasteezee @chrisallegretta Hmm, do you mean in addition to F6 which is already an alternate shortcut for Whereis/Search? Not very familiar with the F13+ keys.
Thank you for the feedback!

I like that A/UX (circa 1992) now has a newer nano binary than MacOS 11 ships with. Who do we get in touch with at Apple to update that btw, it's a teeny bit out of date at this point!

After watching this great video on Apple AUX by @ActionRetro1 I had to hack together a new nano build for AUX 3.1 since he mentioned it. It's available at asty.org/pub/mirrors/au… - let me know if you find any bugs that aren't mentioned in the README youtube.com/watch?v=9Phk3q…

Version 5 of @gnunano has just been released.
I know that vim and emacs are the way to go to be cool: yet I don't want to be cool - I want to be effective.
I love and use nano from the CLI.
When nano is not enough, I switch to GUI and run @code

Actually Meta-N has only toggled this option since version 4.1 (~2019), but it is indeed super useful!
There are now two line numbering options in nano, Meta-N to show line numbers alongside text, and Meta-C to show line/column/character number in the status bar.

Apparently tonight is the first time I've ever (in over a decade) hit alt+n in @gnunano ... and super handy to know. #nano4live

Congrats on twenty years, @gnunano. You're almost half my age now.

Congrats GNU nano on turning 20 years old! I uploaded version .5 of what was then called 'tip' on November 19, 1999. Many thanks to everyone who's sent in bug reports, patches, and suggestions, and to the current development team who keeps it going today.

Always fun noticing nano used in brief moments of YouTube videos by people we follow. For example in the most recent 8-But Guy video on configuring Planet X3 in DosBox.
