@BassonBrain Very interesting stuff, so if they aren’t bonded how does the traffic get prioritised or shared among them when you have 2-3 antenna? Is the aviation antenna basically a performance model or something different? And has the 1gps version already been fitted on the first A380?

SpaceX's original @Starlink Aviation antennae initially supported approximately 220Mbps of service 🛰✈️ Recent changes to the on-board router hardware allow traffic to move between routers and, by extension, via any of the antennae on board. This is a significant update from the original Hawaiian A321neo implementation where the plane effectively has two separate networks on board. The satellite links are not technically bonded, but any link can be used for any given request. If one fails the device connections seamlessly migrate to the other, without requiring end-user devices to re-associate to a different network. That’s a very important update, especially for larger aircraft installations like Emirates' A380s which features 3 Starlink antennae. The newer Starlink Aviation antenna use the higher ~450Mbps per antenna number, and getting to 2Gbps with just three terminals suggests another ~50% increase. SpaceX recently confirmed on the Starlink X page that the new Aviation antenna is actually capable of up to 1Mbps!

🇦🇪 @emirates Connectivity Executive explains the Airline’s move to @Starlink 🔥 "The legacy systems weren’t working. No matter how much money we threw at them, passengers still complained, and it was impossible technically for everybody that wanted to connect to connect. We studied the data, and could see that the overall penetration was not as high as it should be. Clearly the data volumes were too low, which was unnatural. The noise of complaints, people saying, ‘it just doesn’t work’ and ‘I just can’t get connected to the portal.’ Then Starlink came along saying, ‘We guarantee it, it will work.’  With a very pragmatic technical viewpoint, insisting on XWAPs, to connect 100%, and to install more than one antenna to handle demand and for redundancy. It was like for the first time, talking to people that actually understood how the internet works in a highly dense environment on an aircraft. It seemed our legacy connectivity industry didn’t really understand the core technologies needed to deliver customer connectivity happiness. But Starlink absolutely understood it." source: Via Satellite

@cb_doge Anyone know how this works technically? Are they bonding the 3 antennas together to get 2gbps or are they serving different areas or what? Really impressive stuff, there is nothing else that comes close! nice one @elonmusk

@CareemUAE There is a constant issue between your API and ordering for McDonald’s. When selecting an add on nuggets, your system does not allow the sauce to be selected and defaults to sending the restaurant BBQ sauce order instead of allowing selection. Can this be fixed?

@EmiratesSupport Why are you only offering pyjamas in business class on night flights over 9 hours? Surely it should be any night flight? Just seems cheap not to offer this. Also is there any update on Starlink retrofit dates?

Watch how we install @Starlink on our Boeing 777. Our first flight with ultra-fast inflight Wi-Fi is already airborne, with more aircraft being upgraded every month.

@duCares Hi, how have I been charged AED62 for a short roaming call from UK to UAE landline? Are your roaming rates really this excessive? It says 6 minutes that makes it over 2.5USD per minute! Yet I only spoke for a few seconds?

@EmiratesSupport This is utterly ridiculous, they can connect to WiFi in the airport in Dubai with no such restrictions at all. This was never an issue until it changed from skywards login to date of birth. Nor can we have 2 connections on our adult login so I can’t share mine with them?

@goaroundflaps15 Hi David, we understand your concern. The age restriction for Wi-Fi is a standard procedure to comply with certain regulations. We'll forward your feedback to the concerned department for review.
