@DX_Alphafg In truth, no. I remember leaving Maine and experiencing the "real" world and realizing how grateful I was for my white, British, Anglican upbringing. I had manners. I could speak in complete sentences. I could smile at anyone and mean it. I was grateful then and still am.

@PeterSweden7 It's an historical, regularly repeating occurrence. It happens either naturally, like the Black Plague. Or at the hands of man, like a world war. It even happened in the Bible. After the plague we got the printing press, eyeglasses, mechanical clocks, and sanitation, etc.
