I'm not be going to post here on Twitter anymore, I don't agree with the platform's leadership's values. Follow me on Mastodon (see profile name and bio) and/or find the newsletter at #newsletter" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">golang.dk/#newsletter . See you elsewhere! #golang

I just fixed a bug in the canvas app from Build Cloud Apps in Go, where incorrect use of the error group at startup would prevent the app from shutting down if server startup errored. Check out the fix in cmd/server/main.go at golang.dk/courses/build-…

@Staticfrost_ @flydotio Yes and no. I know of it, but I really like that the Cgo version includes the original, extremely well tested code. Do you have any experience with it?

@luisuribe We've been so used to automatically reaching for a Javascript-based SPA with a lot of extra build and runtime complexity, we've collectively forgotten the virtues of simple HTML returned from the server. But obviously, this is opinion. Feel free to substitute gomponents. 😊

@luisuribe I understand what you mean. 😄 But in contrast to those PHP scripts (which I also wrote back then!), the whole frontend rendering is encapsulated in a view layer, and not much different to traditional server-side-rendering. Try it out, it's useful and surprisingly fun!

How are you finding the course site? Is it too slow or fast enough? Easy enough to navigate and find the content you're looking for?

Ugh. Spambots. I'm trying out Cloudflare's solutions to try to stop the spambot attacks I've been seeing lately. Sorry if you're now seeing captchas once in a while, I hope the disruption to your learning on the course site is minimal!

I'm trying out a different setup for the course site to get rid of some spambot problems. Let me know if you experience any problems, either here or on the support email address!

I've just released a small fix to Build Cloud Apps in Go, upgrading the gomponents view component library to the newest version v0.19.0. The update brings a new generic Map() function to map slices to view components.

When I grew up I also want to be “go cloud developer”. Or spider man. But go cloud developer is definitely up there. Go clouds!
