Good morning all. A quick look at how Asia is digesting the weekend's news, from east to west.... Japan $NKD Nikkei futures trading 62,700 -1.62% as the breakout stalls a little on overbought conditions and the presence of slight divergence on the daily. A retest to the breakout level at 60,200 is possible and above we have a confluence of the 12 month and 17 year uptrends around 69,000. Korea $KOSPI composite defies gravity once again, gapping above a significant trend channel that we had hoped would provide a pullback. Currently trading +4.3% at 7820. Momentum indicators are in divergence from the February highs across weekly, daily and 4 hour so it is susceptible to a violent pullback at any point however it is a bad bad time to be a divergence trader right with a momentum that can lure the shorts in then blow their stops by breaking the divergences as we have seen occur several times over the last few weeks. The all time log-trend channel sits at 10,200. Taiwan $TXF Taiex futures have been treading water around 42,000 since Thursday as they work off some short term overbought conditions. In doing so the 12 month uptrend has now come to the meet the price where we could see a renewed push to a confluence of longer term trends around 44,000. A break of this trend could be a canary in the coal mine as it would be the first to break its trend of all major indices. Divergences are present across vs Feb highs on daily and weekly. China $SHCOMP Shanghai Composite finally joins the party +1.09% to a new ATH at 4840. Daily is a little overbought and divergence is present on the daily and weekly. A measured move from the pre-breakout consolidation would target 10% higher, in its way however is the longer term uptrend around 5150 as at today. If it chopped in this area for several weeks and regroups we could see that measured move complete at this trend channel around 5300 in mid-late June. India $NIFTY remains trapped in the range between 23,800 and 24,610, down 0.8% in the middle of the range at 23,980. No change to the technical picture or wave count here so we will post a new chart if the outlook changes. Worth noting here that the Nifty is more correlated to $IGV software sector in the US which goes some way to explain the underperformance.
