@automaticnba you gotta sort by wins rather than win percentage in the playoffs. 4-3 counts the same as 4-0

@bballbreakdown they’ve been playing defense like this for months. we’ve tried to tell all y’all. this team has always been on the Thunder and Spurs level

If the Knicks continue to play defense this way, no one in the East will beat them

@ShaxNBA start Mikal on Maxey and Hart on VJ. let VJ feel some strong defensive pressure and knock him off balance to start the series I almost feel this is a series where you let Maxey and Embiid score 30ppg and suffocate all other options

Yeah, but don't be surprised if it's Hart though. He made the call himself for McCollum, he could do it here if he feels ready I'd go with Mikal first to feel things out, if he's getting cooked, McBride and Alvarado's minutes should go up with Hart on more.

@ShaxNBA Who starts on Maxey? Michael?

@krispursiainen this is the same situation as Thibs with the Knicks last year. is he a good coach? in Thibs’ case yes. was he the best coach for this roster? no. is it better to make a change sooner rather than later or wait for them to stay past their welcome

Wouldn’t scapegoat Mosley if I was ORL. Think there were enough structural issues + success vs. #1 seed for him to deserve more time

@duglust most annoying thing in the NBA (and such an easy rule change for Silver to win brownie points) is pausing the game to review potential flagrant fouls and close out 3s. if the refs don’t spot it in the moment then just play on. it’s really not that deep

@krispursiainen I agree I don’t think they could beat OKC, or at best we’d need some help. but the Knicks have dominated the Nuggets in the Brunson era (7-1). and they have the perfect roster to neutralize Wemby. KAT, Mitch, OG might be the best rotation to put on him. scared of Castle tho

The Knicks started their series experimenting with losing in the most excruciatingly painful ways possible and wound up being the first team in the Eastern Conference to advance We need to stop pretending the West is the tougher side of the map

@WorldWideWob friendly reminder the Knicks beatdown of the Celtics in game 6 last year was worse than the Mavericks beatdown of the Suns

Is 60-19 the most dominant playoff lead at a given time in a game ever? I'm not sure how you come up with objective criteria for that but...this has gotta be up there. More than tripling their score!

@UsherNBA I’ve said it all season. the Knicks’ A game is better than every team in the league (other than the Thunder). the problem during the season was their focus and intensity. when they’re playing at their best, they’re unbeatable

people love to say they miss when ESPN/SC “just showed the highlights,” but really there’s no indication they’d actually consume content that way when they can just search highlights on their phones on command
Rob Pizzola@robpizzola

Waking up and watching a full hour of highlights used to be one of the best parts of the morning. Now every clip is on your phone 30 seconds after it happens and nobody sits down to watch a highlight show anymore. We gained access and lost the experience.

New pod: THE TRIPLE CRISIS IN HOLLYWOOD—AND THE FUTURE OF MOVIES, WITH @SeanFennessey Just a really fun conversation about the state of film, the evolution of media, and the future of culture. Feat.: The triple crisis - Ticket sales per capita down 50% since 2016 - Hollywood jobs down 30% since 2022 - The superhero formula running out of steam without an obvious replacement The future of movies - Why the death of formulas is good for creative movie-making - How video games replaced superheroes as the next IP treasure trove - Optimism about original blockbusters (Project Hail Mary) and a new star establishment (Z The state of culture - Why movie podcasts are to the 2020s what album reviews were to the 2000s/early 2010s - the inverse relationship between attention and memorability (or, why practically nobody has a top-of-mind "5 Favorite TikToks") - Sean's Hyperniche Theory of Culture: The biggest audiences often form around the smallest things - My Conversation Theory of Culture: "The endpoint of all content is discourse generation" youtube.com/watch?v=nYya21…

@ShaxNBA Mike Brown didn’t use his use it or lose it timeout with 3:20 remaining when the Hawks cut the lead to 1. instead of using it there, he waited to the next possession at 2:43 to call the TO. terrible TO management by Brown, Rick Brunson, and the rest of the staff
