It’s hard to comprehend that some Americans are supporting terrorist groups, spreading antisemitic hate, calling for a global intifada, and even burning American flags. Especially after the atrocities of the October 7 attack on Israel, which brought unspeakable pain and the horror of hostages taken—it’s heartbreaking and infuriating. The sharp rise in antisemitism here in America, with incidents increasing by alarming percentages, is a shameful display of hate and should not be tolerated in any form.
Looking back on the sacrifices of the Greatest Generation during World War II, who stood against hatred and totalitarianism, I feel a profound sense of betrayal. They risked everything to protect freedom and human dignity, paving the way for a world they hoped would be more united, compassionate, and free from the violence they had endured.
My belief has always been that each generation holds a responsibility to leave the world better than they found it—a place of greater understanding and mutual respect. Witnessing these acts of division and intolerance, I can’t help but feel that this is not the legacy my forefathers fought and died for. Their sacrifices, made in the name of justice and peace, deserve better than to see this kind of hatred gaining ground in the very society they helped to protect.
