My kiddo turned 14 today. I was so happy when he was little. So optimistic about the future. When the Maidan Revolution took place, I was so proud that the DNA of free people runs through my son’s veins. Then came the invasion of Donbas and the annexation of Crimea. Even though my son was still very little, I got involved with Maidan United because I wanted to make sure I was playing a part, however small, in ensuring justice and a better future. After the full-scale invasion, my son was only 10 and kept asking me how many more days it would be until the war was over. Come to think of it, I didn’t believe it would last long either… I spent a few hours crying today because my son is growing up, and the future I pictured when he was little hasn’t arrived yet. There is still so much anger in this world, and people are still dying. I’m not going to say “needlessly,” because many are dying for freedom. They are dying to protect the future I dream of for my son. So I want to thank all the Ukrainian defenders, as well as Iranians and Georgians demonstrating against dictatorships, and everyone else who is laying their lives on the line to ensure that all the children of this world can have a better future. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
