In Feb. @CLAtweets members met MP @timfarron @GowbarrowSam @gowbarrow Hall Farm to discuss a variety of NB topics: incorporating food & farming in our schools; calorific value vs nutrient density; intensive vs regenerative (pasture fed) livestock farming; food labelling +++

We hosted @timfarron alongside @CLANorth members to talk all things food and farming, particularly on getting across the message of food nutrition to kids and supporting farmers transitioning to better environmental practices. Always find Tim a good listener who wants change.

Great to meet with local farmers and representatives of the Country Land and Business Association in Watermillock. We talked about how government policy can be changed to help keep Britain food secure and support more young people into farming.

I’m sure some regen bale grazing is just made up work… the cows seem to be in fields with way more grass than ours At modest stocking densities with good grazing planning and daily movement I reckon we don’t need it

@herdyshepherd1 @howemill Our reel system is a scaffold pole. Also works great. If your manufacturer can work out a way of reeling the fence in on the quad, then I’d be interested. Although sometimes I do think it’s good to get off the quad and get some exercise while walking the field.

@gowbarrow @howemill I had an Isaac - it worked great :-) And wanted a permanent solution - plus my ‘manufacturer’ is working on an adjustable reel system so made sense to do both

Been admiring these for years on American farms… allows you to drive over the electric fence easily Challenged a local gentleman to design and make me one and he absolutely smashed the job - a simple work or art and well engineered

@herdyshepherd1 @howemill Yep, our pipe and string works like a dream. It occasionally falls off when the baler twine wears through, but plenty of that around for a fix. I’m sure I’ve offered to show it to you before. Can’t believe you’ve been working with electric fence for this long without anything!
