He noted that for many Edmontonians, the violence in the West Bank and Gaza is not distant, with families grieving and worried about loved ones amid unimaginable hardships. He said decisions like these cause real hurt, damage relationships with communities that already feel marginalized, and break trust. He has asked the commission to review how the current policy on travel is decided, particularly given active travel advisories and sanctions in place, and expects the Edmonton Police Chief and Commission to meaningfully connect with the community to repair broken trust.
