@MTTrading2 Today she was, but the network is full of hype beasts who only change their view after the fact.

@financialsamura I left corporate 3 years ago, and there is definitely a social "legebility" issue with it. It makes a difference, especially when achieved through investment gains, where it is perceived as excessive risk and luck.

Failing to Convince Anyone in Real Life to FIRE Despite Big Gains financialsamurai.com/failing-to-con…
I've been writing about #FIRE since 2009 and believe it's one of the best ways to live your life, not just financially, but as a human being with limited time on this planet. For years the message felt like it was landing. But recently something has shifted.
Despite one of the greatest bull runs in history handing people life-changing gains, I can't convince a single person in my real life to actually break free. Not one.
Why choose more money you don't need over your health, happiness, kids, and family? I'm genuinely perplexed and could use your help figuring out why you're still grinding so hard when you don't have to.

@BestBuy logistics are totally broken. My appliance was loaded on a truck today, aborted mid-route for no reason, and delayed to Monday with no communication. Gutting the Total membership while your last-mile delivery fails is a disastrous strategy. Do better @BestBuySupport

@financialsamura Joe Smith was the #1 overall pick, played 16 seasons in the NBA, and grossed over $60 million in career earnings. By any objective, global metric, Joe Smith is a profoundly successful basketball player, but he may not feel good about himself because he is not shaq or lebron?

Curious for those of you who went to an elite university (top 10-25, top 0.1-1% student):
Do you still feel good about yourself if you do not become a top 0.1-1% performer in your field of choice?
For example, a VP in finance making $500K a year versus an MD making $2 million a year at the same age. Or a violinist who never makes it to Carnegie Hall, etc.
Or does the experience of going to a top university continue paying dividends if you end up being average?

@the27guy Or magic/bird, Chamberlain, Kareem, Bill Russell, Olajuwon, Rodman, Kirk, etc....I get Wemby and Luka, Jokic for stat guys, but Edwards and Durant make little sense to me

@kinginvestings Mathematically my portfolio couldn't drop 30% tomorrow

@itsgeoffwilson Hmmm... 1/1, 99s, etc from retired home town stars have turned out to be some of the best assymetric investments of my life...

@realfrugalmogul Because the market is closed, my toddler is tearing up the living room, and I had to find entertainment somewhere! 🤝 Total respect for not taking yourself too seriously man. Enjoy the Sunday.

@realfrugalmogul There's a difference between stealth wealth and self-imposed mediocrity

We’re a couple in our early 40s, with two young kids.
Our household income is ~30% below the Boston average.
Here’s how we:
•Own a home
•Have 2 cars
•Have a stay-at-home parent
•Built a $1.2M net worth
Our choices:
•Bought a 1,000 sqft home in 2015—and never upgraded
•Drive a 2015 Sentra + 2019 RAV4 (and keeping them)
•Mostly cook at home (but spend on high-quality food)
•Don’t chase new phones or brand-name clothes
We also used this approach to buy 4 rental properties over time.
We don’t look or act like millionaires.
Which is why we became millionaires.

Final countdown to this piece of history. True 1/1 the only dual logoman they have signed together. Very rare NBA 50th anniversary gold patch. Game worn. Ends tonight in the Goldin March Elite auction. @GoldinCo

@drfarahsutton I prefer SEP. Lowers taxable income now, grows tax deferred, flexibility with contributions and no administrative paperwork on annual IRS filings
