So what. You’re trying to claim that there’s some sort of grand conspiracy, but there’s not. They’re a couple racist assholes and it looks like they got what they deserved: • James “Tiger” Knowles: He confessed in 1983, pleaded guilty to federal civil rights violations, and testified against Hays. He was sentenced to life in prison (initially reported as 99 years or life in some accounts) but was later paroled.  • Henry Hays: He was convicted of capital murder in 1983. The jury recommended life without parole, but the judge overrode it and sentenced him to death. He was executed by electric chair on June 6, 1997—the first White person executed in Alabama for murdering a Black person since 1913, and the only KKK member executed for such a crime in the 20th century.
