@graybumblebee tbh i don't hate it as much but it's that people were tired of the American audience more than of the content of the story

An enigma. Consistently got remarkable interviews out of his guests while asking the stupidest questions imaginable

There's a Gameboy game that's kinda like Pokémon that has this setup. I was just a child when it came out, please someone tell what it is.

@michael_galant I vaguely knew about them and have always wondered how they reconcile with JtB literally calling Jesus the Messiah, but I'm always too lazy to look up even a one-sentence explanation.

Just finding out that there’s an extant ancient quasi-Abrahamic religion in which John the Baptist is the most important prophet (Jesus is acknowledged but rejected) that’s based mostly in Iran, Iraq, and Worcester, Massachusetts. Did everyone already know this?

@dnharper @PanasonicDX4500 My partner and I went to Scotland once and drove from Edinburgh to Inverness, a 3-hour drive without stops. The receptionist at our hotel audibly gasped when we told her and rushed to bring us some water as if we'd just crossed the Sahara.

@PanasonicDX4500 The inverse is that when I was an exchange student in London, I went for spring break to Edinburgh, and to hear the Brits at the place I was interning talk, I might as well as skipped off to Kuala Lumpur for dinner.

@TheDougFiles He's hilarious, but my favorite little acting moment is when he picks up the toy and takes a second to make sure it has a calculator function. It's so subtle but it helps underscore the satire that much more.

@poppy_haze I'm already sketching out the storyboards in my head. Two commuters who walk the same way to and from the train every day for work. They both stand under their own umbrellas and then, at the end, they're sharing one umbrella. That's it. I'm commissioning an artist.

@reelandroll I understood what you meant. I just wanted to contribute. For me what most distinguishes The Departed from IA is the fact that Scorcese very wisely did not try to recreate the gorgeous vistas during the rooftop confrontation. We were locked down on that dirty roof.

@graybumblebee Absolutely! Just realised I might have come across as being dismissive of The Departed, but that’s absolutely a key element of why it works in that it knows that some things need reworking for an entirely different context.

@cd_hooks @thatbilloakley As a kid I didn't know dyad was a word so I thought he said 'diet' and spent years wondering what that meant. I didn't hear the word dyad until my freshman year of college and then I think by pure coincidence I watched this episode a month later like Leo in OUATIH.

lol yes next stage of chinamaxxing (thesis) is seeing if people can eat chicken feet, pig ears, thousand-year eggs, fish eyeballs, pigs blood, etc (antithesis) only the strong will survive and experience the dialectical resolution (stinky tofu)

@RazLikesRocks What I love about this episode is that the creators got lots of thoughtful feedback from lgbtq people discussing the merits of the joke and lots of angry emails from Harley owners.
