We swapped our Bitcoin for worthless fiat, for government I.O.U.s that are backed by nothing more than the word of the same greedy few who have always held the strings. There is no government, not in the way we were taught to believe. There are only competing interests, ravenous for control. And in our weakness, we handed them the reins once more. Crypto, the great equalizer, is contorting into a playground for the rich, a centralized casino where the house always wins. The dream of a decentralized future is fading, co-opted and corrupted by the very forces it was designed to overthrow. We had our freedom in our grasp, and we let it slip through our fingers, defeated not by a tyrannical power, but by the reflection of its greed in our own eyes.
