OFFICIAL CLARIFICATION: REGARDING THE ERRONEOUS CIRCULATION OF ELECTION COMMISSION DOCUMENT
It has come to our notice that a letter from the Election Commission, bearing the seal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is being circulated across various Malayalam news channels. The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) hereby clarifies that this was purely a clerical error, which was identified and rectified immediately.
The BJP Kerala Unit had recently approached the CEO’s office seeking clarification on the 2019 guidelines regarding the publication of criminal antecedents of candidates. Along with their request, the party submitted a photocopy of the original 2019 directive. The party's seal was present on that specific copy provided by them.
Due to an oversight, the office failed to notice the party symbol on the submitted document and inadvertently redistributed it to other political parties as part of the requested clarification. The guidelines in question have undergone revisions since 2019, which have already been communicated to all political entities.
The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer acknowledged the lapse as soon as it was detected. Consequently. On March 21, the Deputy Chief Electoral Officer issued a formal letter withdrawing the erroneous document. The withdrawal notice was dispatched to all political parties, District Election Officers, and Returning Officers.
The public and media are requested to refrain from spreading misleading messages based on this clerical error. The Election Commission maintains a rigorous and foolproof system to ensure that the electoral process remains free from any external interference or influence.

Have all pretences been dropped by the BJP?
It is no secret that the same power centre seems to control both the Election Commission of India and the BJP. Even then, at least maintain the courtesy of two separate desks.
Now even that seems unnecessary.
Seals are being casually swapped.
A BJP seal on an Election Commission letter!
Just like the old allegation - that no matter which button you press, the lotus appears - here comes another “coincidence.”
Shouldn’t someone be paying attention?
For those trying to track the story:
An affidavit attached to a letter (dated March 19,2019) sent by the Election Commission to political parties carried the seal of the BJP Kerala unit instead of the Election Commission’s seal.
This is a first.
We have often heard claims that, no matter which button is pressed on a voting machine, the lotus lights up. But this is the first time it appears as if the BJP and the Election Commission are using the same seal.
Verified update: The document has been received by multiple parties. It has been cross-verified with at least two of the recipients. It is also confirmed that the email originated from the official Election Commission source. #ElectionCommission

The Bengaluru Roadies #32: Langford Town
Langford Town is an unsolved historical mystery. There is a debate whether it is named after Colonel Pierce Leslie Langford or Cadet William Langford.
It's the ultimate Bengaluru identity crisis. For over a century, locals confidently assumed this posh layout was named after Colonel Pierce Leslie Langford, whose sprawling estate once defined the area. But the plot thickened in 2014 when an Australian family arrived with a 200-year-old wooden chest, proving their ancestor—William Langford—was a decorated cadet here much earlier, sparking an unsolved colonial cold case. Whoever the true namesake is, they left behind the southernmost jewel of the 1850s British Cantonment—a quiet, leafy paradise originally built for high-ranking officers and their horses.
Eagle Street, one of the original 1850s layouts, ends abruptly in a wall overlooking a historic cemetery—literally a beautiful dead end! At the end of Serpentine and Eagle streets lies a heritage cemetery. It sounds a bit macabre, but a misty early morning walk here is deeply peaceful. Keep an eye out for the 19th-century tombstones of British soldiers, which are decorated with incredibly intricate, hand-carved floral motifs.
Also, if you've ever walked past the modern St. Joseph's College campus on Langford Road, you are actually stepping on the erstwhile gardens of the legendary 'Langford House'.
Take a quiet stroll down Eagle Street, once home to Henry Eagles, the financial comptroller to the King of Mysore. Hunt for the last three surviving old-time bungalows; look specifically for their classic monkey-top windows, grand columns, and massive porticos which are a masterclass in colonial design.
I am not sure if they still exist, but would love to hunt for them and see if they do…
Just a short walk away on the Richmond-Langford border is Johnson Market. Grab a colossal Jumbo Mutton Roll at Fanoos, a legendary joint that has fueled generations of locals.
(I have recently relocated to the city of gardens and traffic, and what intrigues me most are the road names, each of which have a fascinating history. This series of posts will unravel the historical origin of the roads and localities in BLR.)
By the way, on popular demand, I have started archiving all my Bangalore Roadies posts at blrroadies.substack.com , in case you missed a few.

Read this slowly, BJP IT Cell. 👇
The Government of India’s own Shipping Ministry just confirmed:
📌 28 Indian ships in Persian Gulf
📌 24 STUCK on the west of Hormuz; 677 seafarers stranded
📌 4 on the east; 101 crew members
No passage. No waiver. No exemption.
Just 778 Indian sailors waiting; while BJP handles “Vishwaguru diplomacy” on WhatsApp forwards.
You were celebrating a deal Iran officially denied ever giving.
Bangladesh got a written waiver.
China got 12 million barrels.
India got… a government press note counting its own stranded ships.
Stop spreading fake news.
Your own government just exposed you. 🤫
ANI@ANI
#WATCH | Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Shipping Ministry, GoI says, "The number of Indian flagged vessels operating in the Persian Gulf region remains unchanged. The number was 28 yesterday; it remains 28 today. Of these 28, 24 are located on the west of the Strait of Hormuz, which has 677 Indian seafarers and four vessels are on the east of the Strait with 101 Indian seafarers on board. All Indian vessels and crew thereon are being actively monitored for their safety and security..."

I've so far stayed away from commenting on @BLRAirport's sudden decision to charge all commercial taxi operators ₹285 to enter T1 and pick-up passengers within 10 mins - every additional 5 mins is another ₹150. And even this spot is a 5 min walk from arrivals gate. The free P4/P3 is a 10-15 min walk and there's a free bus shuttle - but it's super inconvenient with luggage or for aged parents, and there's no cover (so good luck during rains).
For 3+ months now, this has become highly inconvenient for all our guests & it's been hurting our business. I myself wouldn't book a @shoffr_in from P3/P4, and last time when I paid for premium parking realised that it's not really that premium. Still, I didn't feel like I should create an issue out of this - after all, every busines including BIAL wants to increase their revenue.
But recently someone close to me reminded me that we have a voice, and we should use it - not just for our benefit, but also for that of thousands of other individual taxi drivers and small fleet owners. And most importantly, for all the travellers who are now either forced to walk or select expensive-and-not-worth-it options that are in front of them.
I'm not saying don't charge us - but going from 0 to ₹285 is a steep increase and gives no time for businesses to adjust and account for this cost. Instead I propose charging ₹100 per entry for 2026, and then increasing it to ₹200 next year. It's a fair trade-off between adding a revenue stream (which was non-existent for years) and not inconveniencing the very passengers who use and bring revenue to your airport. And it gives time for businesses to adapt.
The current situation is unfair to commercial taxi operators, inconvenient for travellers - and so reflective of the monopolistic position of BIAL and airports in general. I kindly request the relevant authorities to use this position in a manner that improves the ecosystem for everyone, rather than disbalance it.
To those reading this - if you've been impacted and agree with my views, please repost this in the hope that it's picked by media and Govt. authorities so that BIAL is forced to rethink it's current approach. They might be a monopoly we can't escape using, but we all have a voice too. Let's make them hear us 🙏🏼
