The California Coastal Commission has issued a formal apology to @elonmusk and SpaceX, adding that it will not consider political views or speech in future regulatory decisions. • The Commission admits some officials made politically biased and improper statements about SpaceX and Elon Musk • It formally apologizes for those remarks • Agrees it will not consider political views or speech in future regulatory decisions • The Commission will NOT require coastal permits for most launch operations at Vandenberg Full statement: "The Commission agrees that it may not consider irrelevant factors in performing its function and specifically agrees that it will not take into account the perceived political beliefs, political speech, or labor practices of SpaceX or its officers in considering any regulatory action concerning SpaceX. The Commission acknowledges that Commissioners made statements, including during their October 10, 2024, hearing on the Base’s Falcon 9 launch program, that showed political bias against SpaceX and its CEO and were improper. The Commission apologizes for those statements, as set forth in the signed letter attached as Exhibit C." This filing means that SpaceX and the California Coastal Commission have reached a settlement in their federal lawsuit, and it provides long-term regulatory clarity for SpaceX for future Falcon 9 launches.

Curious what folks think about this
Crossroads@Dr_Crossroads

$TSLA I've sold the last of my Tesla position. Tesla has been in a weird place for me for a while. I love the product. I am enamored with how amazing FSD (in a HW4 stack) is, and how excellent the vehicle is. My wife and I aren't likely to buy any vehicle that isn't a Tesla, and I'm already thinking of that nice upgrade (3-4 years from now) for my '22 Model 3. I also would love to own an Optimus at some point. I love the vision, the vertical integration, and wouldn't bet against Elon. Yet the stock is not the company. Tesla has always traded at a premium, but that premium is increasing over time. That's fine if it's in anticipation of significant future acceleration, but it's questionable when that happens. On the call, they stated, “over time, we expect our hardware-related profits to be accompanied by an acceleration of AI, software and fleet-based profits,” but were effusive on the dates. That's probably for the best, as Elon timelines usually need to be extended. Gross margins have improved, and the P/FCF looks like it's improving, but with the CapEx they're needing to do, this ratio will soon be negative. I don't mind buying a stock with extreme multiples, but I see easier opportunities with clearer runways for acceleration elsewhere. Tesla hasn't been a meaningful position for me for over a year, but I'm out for now. I'll still be rooting for the company (and shareholders) even while hoping the stock comes down to more reasonable levels where the R/R fits my portfolio better.

Cybercab sighting in SF, at the supercharger. Had a driver and steering wheel. May this be the beginning of seeing them everywhere in the Bay soon, without drivers too! $TSLA @SawyerMerritt

Recently grabbed coffee with a senior VP at a very well-known private equity firm Well above $2M in net worth. Not enough to fully retire but can walk away for a better work life balance if he wants to Just had a kid few months ago and now struggling to decide between continuing this career path or shifting to something that would let him spend more time with family I asked him what is keeping him at the current firm, beyond just money His answer was simple: "Insecurity. I might look back in 10 years and feel bad knowing that my friends are buying their second vacation homes while I walked away to chase an easier life. Whatever job or title I have next would not earn me the same respect" That is when it really hit me A lot of people stay in high-performing careers, not even because they need the money, but rather because they are used to a certain level of status and respect from people around them This only gets worse as you move higher up the ladder and start spending time around people at the same level in terms of career or wealth I asked him if he was okay if I posted this on my X and sought advice on what my followers would do. He agreed. So I am genuinely curious: what would you do if you were in his situation?

@proales @NadimHossain @rohindhar In a class of 700+ students, having 600 straight A students (in middle school) works fine @ Lowell! Lowell used to be a Berkeley feeder, but less so now - but that’s only because of Berkeley policy changes

A lot of people leave San Francisco for Marin because they perceive the public schools to be better there But what I’ve noticed is that a lot of folks who move to Marin end up sending their kids to private school eventually. And this is true whether they live in San Rafael, Mill Valley, etc etc Are the public schools in Marin still considered great or are they coasting on some reputation from a long time ago?

@marcrandolph Terrible advice! you should at least start your career in SF; you can build your startup in another place (maybe), and succeed! But to never learn from SF would be to almost guarantee your entrepreneurial failure

If you want to succeed with an early-stage startup, your best move might be far away from Silicon Valley, to a small city with an active startup community of its own.

I’m betting my entire net worth on 5 predictions: (from $6.34 $PLTR investor) → $DUOL = dominates global education. → $HIMS = $500B giant in 5 years. → $PLTR = $2T as AI ontology grows. → $AMD = crushes NVIDIA via chiplets. → $META = $5T AI giant. $AMD $2000 thesis. 👇

Jeff Bezos has $222 billion. If he paid my wealth tax this year, we could fund insulin in America for everyone who needs it plus free school lunch for every kid in Texas—and have plenty of money left over. And Bezos would still have $215 billion dollars to spare.

This is such a ridiculous post. The guy sounds like he has just landed in India and has culture shock, that is all. Just because a country is clean does not make it good. A clean country can be boring as hell. I am not inspired to live in China for many reasons but one is because there is no religion there - what values do people have? It could be materialistic and a meaningless existence. As for beggars, there are plenty in the UK and UK is meant to be a rich country - so having beggars or not, having homeless or not, is not a sign of anything. As for chaos, this is what many people find to be the beauty of India. As somehow things work in the chaos. India is far more complex than this freshie realises. There is a way through the chaos. If all countries were the same, there wouldn't be any point in travelling. It is the amazing experiences you have in India, that make people want to go there - in the cities, the villages, the mountains. India is deeply spiritual. And I am not even comparing the fact one is a thriving democracy, with a free media and free speech, where protests can happen, and one is not.
Manu🇮🇳🇮🇳@mshahi0024

Bro, after spending 6 weeks in China, landed in India. Bro was in pure shock, just a 3 to 4 hour flight and it felt like another planet. Bro explained how China is extremely clean and organized, while India feels chaotic everywhere. Bro said he had never seen so many beggars and homeless people, while in China he could not find even a single beggar. Instead of blaming him, it is high time we introspect how we, as Indians, are being scammed by traditional political parties and less educated politicians. How corruption, infights and religious bigotry as a tool used by Corrupt leaders are derailing us Backward from other nations. If China can change its fortune in just 2 decades, why cannot more capable Indians do the same?
