lots of posts about a particular city being amazing in the summer. Every city is great in the summer. The season lifts everyone's mood. The real question is what city is great in the winter when the weather brings everyone down.

@greenteahotdog I mean, isn't that what makes most games interesting, though? I don't think Mario would be more fun if you could just flyhack and noclip through everything, or that Halo limiting the number of weapons you can carry was some kind of design flaw

My hottest gaming take is that I actually dislike PC game save systems where you can just save/load wherever and whenever. It feels sort of like the equivalent of leaving a debug feature in a game, except it’s extremely normalized

@Fearthecow93 @SanStar00 @henskelion If you see refunds from players not knowing how to play the game, that sounds like a tutorial problem. There are too many games to play. Players are not going to struggle with unexplained mechanics.

@SanStar00 @henskelion @greenteahotdog The majority of the dogpiling for every single popular game is literally just people being too stupid to play correctly. The vast majority of complaints and refunds i see are people that cant play a game correctly.

@SalmonGPT @henskelion Both save systems are pretty common. Checkpoints are fine if they happen all the time. Infrequent checkpoints are an annoyance for two reasons: it can force the player to replay sections they already played, or if a player wants to stop and has to find a save point first.

@molantpk_ Why do game devs have this preference for blurry graphics? Most pc gamers immediately turn off motion blur and chromatic aberration because we want crisp visuals. Berry bury berry did the crt scanlines crap too and it looks so much better without it.

@greenteahotdog @henskelion This is unironically the correct position. There is a pretty good correlation between best games of all time and less freedom. The more freedom the player has they will suck the fun out of the game and it makes it a less streamlined experience.

@greenteahotdog @SoulesSwordsman Depends on the budget, I don’t like recommending new systems with a socket that’s already 2 (almost 3) generations old. And Microcenter bundles make the AM5 system pretty affordable.

@p1kA4A A massage gun can really help with jaw muscular pain. Don't bother with a cheap Chinese brand because they don't have enough force. Theragun goes on sale for $200 and I use mine everyday. I sleep face down and often wake up with my jaw clicking.

As a Japanese person, one thing that still messes with my head in America is how “How are you?” is basically just a greeting. Back home, if someone asks “genki desu ka?”, you’re expected to give a real answer. So when Americans say it to me, I always freeze for half a second thinking “Wait… how much of my life story do they actually want right now?” 😂 Do you guys genuinely not care, or is it just polite code?

@SoulesSwordsman Yes! Build it yourself IMO. Depends on your budget but generally rn you want an X3D CPU, at least 16gb RAM, at least a 1tb NVME drive, and a GPU with 12 or more gb of VRAM. 9070 is generally best performance/$
