Netflix execs have not done many sports media podcasts — I have tried. Great job by Marchand with this. I will hold to my prediction that one day Netflix will air the men's World Cup in the States. Now, which World Cup? That I do not know.

It's remarkable how many independent, secular trends are anti-alcohol right now. Just off the top of my head - GLP-1s - post-1970s rise of helicopter parenting - reaction to the binge-drinking spike in late 20th c - phones killing teenage partying - surge in young adult fitness (dancing clubs down, running clubs up) - general rise of healthmaxxing culture among both liberal yuppies and MAHA devotees

This is really on your radar? Cmon. It’s constant chatter. Do something about it then. I’m sure there are faster, cheaper, AI driven ways to get diapers in the hands of people who need them. But of all things to get riled up on? I just don’t see why it’s an example of something wrong because some guy thinks Costco is cheaper. They are diapers not candy bars or creatine.

You think you could deliver diapers for materially less? Figure it out and get back to me with the plan. And will figure out how to pay for it. It’s just the constant complaining. Do something about it. They clearly are trying. @baby2baby stepped up in a huge way during the recent fires. They were just tweeting about fire hydrants and politicians. They did something.

@gregbettinelli @peterpham @baby2baby You’re a person of math so you can understand how silly it is - and how obviously grifty it is - to tout a plan that costs 4x as much per diaper than you can get at Walmart on your own. There is a better distribution mechanism than this.

@pitdesi You've had a good mayor in a weak system for like 15 months. Pretty funny take. LA has the same. Mayor doesn't do much but hire department heads and put together a city only budget. Obviously important stuff but the idea that one person can create/ruin a place like LA is comedy.

From SF, watching the LA mayoral race is a reminder that it could be far worse. (so thankful for Lurie!)

@JoePompliano Imagine the sports business world if a pickle ball tournament drew 10,000 to the Dean Dome. It would go crazy. Jesse and team can draw 100,000 people for the Bananas any weekend almost in any place in the country. Just phenomenal.

Say what you want about the Savannah Bananas, but the fact that Jesse Cole and his wife sold their house, went $1.8 million in debt, and slept on an air mattress in a garage to build what could be a billion-dollar business — that they still own 100% of — is genuinely amazing.

@ManuKumar Jet Blue will go BK by the end of the year. It wouldn’t have mattered. Both were doomed. With fuel costs at these levels we will be down to two airlines.
