@RobSomerville1 @GlenCrawley2 The dairy beef industry will continue to become a more prominent source of beef supply in North America. Sexed semen, artificial insemination, and a captive supply of cows. Beef is No longer a byproduct of dairy. Integral to the modern dairy business.

@GlenCrawley2 Yes beef will continue to be a regular part of our diet. The beef will be imported from the Southern Hemisphere. Throw in Holsteins from the U.S. and we will be chewing on tough beef for a long time yet. (Did I say that out loud?) #Iamnotbitteratall

I updated an old spreadsheet on cow breakevens. In 2011 I calculated it would take 339 cows to break even on a farm our size. In 2022 it would take 432 cows to break even. The thing is... it takes an extra 1000 acres to keep the extra cows. Like where is that land coming from?

Toured the Food Innovation Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nebraska Innovation Campus this morning. Fun to see the variety of pilot plant facilities they have dedicated to food technology and innovation. #food #innovation #university #foodtechnology #foodscience
