I am leading an illegal parade downtown 2 guys push a platform with giant speakers to blast music 100 people dressed in bright colors follow us. A drummer and a white horse bring up the rear You know, I haven’t been invited to a lot of weddings Six or seven maybe? I think that’s not a lot. Some people go to that many weddings in a summer But now I’m here leading the parade for one of my best friends, Neville Medhora aka @nevmed He’s on top of that white horse at the end of the street and we’re going to get him married I’m going to try to tell you about why I think weddings matter And I’ll tell you how you can get married, if you want, in exactly two years from now But first I need to get Neville off the horse and into the wedding hall We have to get rid of the horse, get everyone inside, and start the wedding in exactly 5 minutes I run to the end of the block, help Neville jump down, grab his hand, and race with him to the front This will become my favorite memory: dragging Neville into the crowd, his friends erupting in cheers, the drummer rattling his beat, and everyone pushing inside the hotel to officially start the wedding 2 years ago Neville was merely a successful entrepreneur He was rich in all the right areas: a beautiful home, a profitable business, and a busy social life But he was not in love. And he was not yet married Neville decided to change that. He told all of his friends that he would get married in 2024 He was single when he said this, by the way, and we thought he was crazy But Neville is thoughtful, unassuming, and intelligent. He is fit. He’s in fighting shape. He’s strategic in life and in relationships and I mean that in the best way So once he said it, he started to date more intentionally. He started to look for someone to spend his life with He found his wife a few months later They dated for a year. They got engaged. And now they’re about to get married We start to push inside the hotel and wind up the stairs. The Indian wedding is about to begin Neville and Rekha are getting married
