Heavy delays in both directions on the Western Freeway between Christies Road and Hopkins Road, due to works. Citybound is slow from Leakes Road. If you're driving to Ballarat for #AFLDogsPower allow extra travel time. #victraffic
It's funny how you and him don't know what deflection actually is jokers. If the ball is deliberately played by a member of the opposing team, an attacker can not be offside. You guys don't know sh about the rules. The guy has attempted the ball to change the direction of the ball. It deflects from the second person of the opposition side. Lough at your dump ass
@KilliciS@EPLBible None of this matters. We shot the ball, the shot was blocked, it deflected off a player who had 0 intention of playing the ball and therefore it’s the position when the shot was taken. This isn’t a conspiracy against Spurs and there’s far worse that happened during that match.
@EPLBible Anyone that understands football knows that Tomiyasu deliberately plays the call. Whether it’s a shit attempt at a clearance or not. He has the time to make a decision and moves his whole body to block the shot and clear the ball.
Means it’s a new phase when it hits Gabriel
@1SmoothKriminal@Gangstaswag1@Finnlrxd@RicOnTheTyne@mike1974bell Basically any attempt to stop the ball going into the goal (or very near to the goal - aka just missing). If the ball is clearly not going to go into the goal and the defender sticks out a leg, or tries to clear it, whatever, no offside.
@gregorycuau@Gangstaswag1@Finnlrxd@RicOnTheTyne@mike1974bell Isn't it deemed as a clearance if clearing the ball? Seen this season where a player was offside when the ball was played & the defender panicked, hit his own player clearing a cross & it fell to the offside player & they scored. Is the rule based on if a shot or cross or both?
Disabled by the media company, so reposting…how the hell can it be offside when two arsenal players interacted since a spurs man last played the ball. That’s aside from whether we believe the lines! #dodgy
@Gangstaswag1@Finnlrxd@1SmoothKriminal@RicOnTheTyne@mike1974bell Yeah. The shot doesn't even need to be on target, just needs to be going near the goal. I can sort of imagine scenarios where this is a bit grey, but I don't think it is in this case. But yes... Modern football...
@gregorycuau@Finnlrxd@1SmoothKriminal@RicOnTheTyne@mike1974bell Feels like that’s very much up to interpretation. Guess it’s not as disastrous of a call then. Just still think there’s a very fine line between playing the ball and blocking a shot. Just know that if we didn’t have VAR, it would’ve been a goal but modern football I guess 🥲
@gregorycuau@Finnlrxd@1SmoothKriminal@RicOnTheTyne@mike1974bell He was barely offside (I still can’t see even with the lines how he was actually off but that’s just me I guess), not clear and obvious if they have to look for 3 minutes but isn’t a block playing the ball? A deflection is one thing but he clears the ball onto his own player
@gregorycuau@ADJ0078@carausius286@mike1974bell He reacted. He moved his foot to block/ clear the ball. It hit his teammate.
He therefore “played” the ball IMHO
But yes, all grey.
And also, now old news.
We move on!
@ADJ0078@carausius286@JasonTheHH@mike1974bell There is a lot of grey area in football (like handball), but I think it's clear Tomiyasu either didn't have time to react, or was able to react to block the shot. Either way, it's offside.
@ADJ0078@carausius286@JasonTheHH@mike1974bell The rules define a save as "An action by a player to stop or attempt to stop the ball when it is going into or very close to the goal using any part of the body except the hands/arms (unless a goalkeeper within their own penalty area)". I don't think handball is relevant here.
@carausius286@thfcbd_ Above is a definition of a save. From IFAB. Maybe you should run along. Or simply just read the rules. It's clear you are passionate about football, but I don't know why you're happy to be ignorant about such things when you can just read the rules.
@carausius286@thfcbd_ From the rules: "An action by a player to stop or attempt to stop the ball when it is going into or very close to the goal using any part of the body except the hands/arms (unless a goalkeeper within their own penalty area)". So any player can do it.
@Chace_THFC@thfc_OB@SadArsenalFan04@mike1974bell The only reason it's 50/50 is because people don't bother to look up the rules before commenting. Blocking a shot doesn't count as deliberately playing the ball. It says that clearly in the rules.
@thfc_OB@SadArsenalFan04@mike1974bell I’ll be real a decision should not be this 50/50. It should either be inside of offside. It’s an issue with the rule as a whole imo
