@raghu_venugopal Massive population growth had a big impact, the federal gov't made the mistake of not balancing immigration numbers with available doctors, hospital beds, etc.

Premier Ford's most important waste was not addressing hallway medicine which he promised to eliminate in 2018. Instead, hospital underfunding will worsen it and he's hiding the data on it. He did work a lot on more alcohol and imperiling drug users. theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…

I understand the intent behind programs like Canoo. We should absolutely be helping newcomers integrate, build connections, and succeed in Canada. A strong country welcomes people and gives them the tools to thrive. But this is where the approach starts to fall apart. Canoo gives newcomers free or heavily discounted access to museums, galleries, parks, and cultural institutions across the country. These are places funded, maintained, and supported by taxpayers. And that raises a very real question. Why are Canadians who were born and raised here, who have paid into these systems their entire lives, excluded from the very same benefits? This is not about opposing newcomers. It is about fairness. Public parks, museums, and cultural institutions are not luxury services. They are part of our shared national identity. They are meant to be accessible to everyone, not selectively subsidized for one group while others pay full price. If the goal is integration, we should be asking a simple question. Does free admission to attractions really help someone build a life in Canada? Or would those resources be better directed toward things like job placement support, credential recognition, skills training, language programs, and housing affordability? Those are the things that actually create opportunity. Instead, we have created a system where a newcomer can access these spaces for free, while a working Canadian family, already dealing with rising costs, pays out of pocket. At a time when families are struggling with groceries, housing, and inflation, this kind of policy feels out of touch. It sends the wrong message. It suggests that access to shared public spaces is not universal. It is conditional. And that is a problem. Because in Canada, fairness has always meant building systems for everyone, not carving out benefits that exclude the very people who fund them. If we truly believe in inclusion, then inclusion should apply to all Canadians. Not just some. canoo.ca

@BreadWitch @HarmanBhanguBC I grew-up here, my schools took me to all sorts of museums for free. I don't have my Canoo card yet but have been to most every Montreal for free on the first Sunday of every month.

@grenouf @HarmanBhanguBC "People raised here got lots of free access...." Are you deluded? Admission fees in Canada has always been the most expensive and we NEVER got free admission. Where are you getting THAT BS?

@FernandoAg47 @bowker_john So you think customers would be happier crammed-into a packed electric train than on a diesel train with more seats? Yeah, right.

Instead of electrifying the UP Express, which now won't happen until "late 2030s at the earliest," Metrolinx plans to increase capacity by removing luggage racks from trains that were built for the specific purpose of taking people to the airport thetrillium.ca/news/municipal… #onpoli

On the MV Coho heading to Victoria, BC. Gorgeous day! It cost $46 for a round trip ticket for walk ons. About a 90 minute trip. What a bargain! Love you ❤️

Japanese curry on rice tonight. Easy and delicious. Makes a ton of food using basic ingredients for not a lot of money. Chicken, carrots, potatoes, onion, plus whatever else you might want to add or substitute.

@McLeanChronicle @elonmusk We used to have those devices at thd Dutch telco I worked at, bad news. Starlink would lose their license in Canada if they did that.
