I wanted to gather my thoughts because I was really pissed off. I'm perplexed by the attitude of the new generations, who normalize insults based on physical attributes or skin color, as well as publicly bullying a kid just because they're emotionally upset. The problem isn't rewarding someone for letting his tablet get stolen. But it's not sending the message that it's normal to mock a more sensitive kid. Fortunately, Benjamin was showered with love and got his tablet back. He expressed his desire to play football, and we offered him a full scholarship for next year. Joining Juventus he’ll have a special coach in Kwadwo Asamoah.

Took some time to explore London and guess who I bumped into, Ryan Wilson, Head of Communications at @UKinGhana We had a good catch up about the cultural differences and similarities between the UK and Ghana. And as an organisation that has supported me greatly in my career, it was lovely seeing a member of the UKInGhana team.

“Actually… the owner called earlier today and lowered the price to $150. She said she wants it to go to someone who’ll truly love it.” The girl completely froze. Then she asked quietly, “Are you serious?” I told her yes and handed back $50 in change. She hugged that dress so tightly and started crying, saying: “I’m going to look like a princess.” Later, I called the original owner and explained what happened. I told her I’d cover the difference myself so she’d still get her full amount. There was a long silence on the phone. Then she said: “Keep the money… and send the bride a veil from me.” Kindness really does spread from person to person.

Pass a bill mandating that 95% of all state funded technology contracts go to or through Ghanaian companies on merit. Open tender. Published online. No back room deals. No friends and family. That is the bill we need.

Here is what would make me pay that levy with a smile. Pass a bill mandating that 95% of all state funded technology contracts go to or through Ghanaian companies on merit. Open tender. Published online. No back room deals. No friends and family. That is the bill we need.

Mr. Minister, @SamGeorgegh with all due respect, I think you’ve kind of missed the point on this one. Most of the people in tech aren’t arguing about whether NITA has legal authority under the current laws. BTW; we can read the Acts and L.I.s too. The bigger issue is whether the law itself and how it’s being enforced actually helps the kind of innovation ecosystem Ghana says it wants to build. Remember, “Aku AI”? 🤖 A lot of us are worried about the impact, the lack of clarity, the risks around implementation, and the kind of message this sends to young builders, startups, freelancers, and innovators. Most are just worried Ghana could end up regulating creativity, experimentation, and innovation into unnecessary bureaucracy. That concern is valid whether the law was written in 2008, 2020, or yesterday. Just because something is in the law doesn’t automatically make it good policy. "The law is made for man, not man for the law", if the law in any way doesn't serve the interest of the people then it's no law or a senseless law. That’s not misinformation. That’s people engaging and speaking up. And honestly, this overly defensive energy you put up anytime people raise national concerns is getting a bit tiring. Sometimes leadership isn’t about firing back with legal citations and chest-thumping. Sometimes it’s about listening to the people actually working in the ecosystem every day. We (tech people) are not your enemies. We are citizens, builders, and innovators trying to contribute to Ghana’s future while raising legitimate concerns about how policy affects their work and opportunities. Akpe ✌🏾

I have always reiterated that personally and officially, I am always open to informed and constructive criticism and opinions. Criticisms that jump on bandwagon trends and fail to be based on fact are treated with contempt because they are not only mischievous but intended to misinform. To all the 'IT Professionals' who all of a sudden are making all manner of spurious claims that the @MoCDTI through its Agency - @NITAGhana - is acting illegally, please read the National Information Technology Agency Act, 2008 (Act 771), Electronic Transactions Act, 2008 (Act 772), the Fees and Charges (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations, 2023 (L.I. 2481) and the Fees and Charges (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendments) Regulations 2025 (L.I. 2512). The Ministry is simply ENFORCING existing legislation that has been on our books since 2008, 2023 and 2025. The proposed new legislation has NOT even been laid before Parliament. I welcome anyone to point out which specific action of the Agency is NOT backed by a provision under the stated legislation. We have a Country to build, and we will ensure enforcement and sanity in our Technology space. Cheers.
