A Harvard study found that 4 hours of screen time before bed suppresses melatonin by 55% and delays your circadian clock by 1.5 hours (Chang et al.)
Just published my baseline melatonin and cortisol curves from a 4-point saliva test, before I spend a year without screens
These could change substantially within just a week or two without screens
A year from now we'll know what happens when you reverse that completely

@Nigelrefowens @JHJCSports @jaredwright17 Not sure a ref running to review a screen on the side of the field multiple times a game is going to speed anything up 🤷♂️
English

@JHJCSports @jaredwright17 There is no TMO. The referee will go to the screen to review it himself .
English

The Americans are ditching the TMO for the Referee Review System (RRS).

@PlanetRugby Terrible click bait - thoughts this was a reputable outlet

@rugbyphilosophy Not bad reading. I think the reality is the Springboks are better man for man & better coaches + depth. That doesn’t mean the All Blacks couldn’t win the next WC. Ultimately not having a go to 10 & style of play cost him his job. with Richie in seat he still has his job.

Here's my 2c about Razor and the way things ended with New Zealand Rugby.
In my opinion, Robertson should have been kept on as All Blacks head coach through the 2027 World Cup. Cutting him loose halfway through his term feels premature, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes overseas and finds great success with another international team (perhaps Scotland, if they snap him up).
1. Culture Over Coaching
Robertson came into the All Blacks job with a big emphasis on team culture, similar to how John Kirwan approached coaching the Blues a decade ago. Kirwan talked a lot about changing the club’s culture, believing that would lead to success. But as Kirwan’s Blues stint showed, simply preaching culture doesn’t automatically translate into wins.
Kirwan faced a massive task in creating a new culture at the Blues, and in his own words said it ultimately proved “well beyond him.” In Robertson’s case, he too seemed to assume that refocusing the All Blacks’ culture and delegating a lot of the hands-on coaching to his assistants would be a winning formula. Unfortunately, culture is not something you can build in a season or two.
2. Perspective
When you're in an organisation, what should look like a problem starts to blend into the wallpaper. In other words, perspective gets lost. I suspect Robertson experienced a dose of this. As Crusaders coach looking from afar, he probably had a razor-sharp vision (pardon the pun) for how he would do things differently with the All Blacks. But once he was in the hot seat, that clarity may have evaporated in the face of practical realities. Suddenly the bold ideas blur, and it’s hard to tell which issues are the urgent trees and which are the forest-level strategic priorities.
3. Crusaderness
Don’t get me wrong, Razor’s record with the Crusaders was phenomenal. But it’s worth remembering that the Crusaders have been a juggernaut franchise for decades. That house was already in order long before Robertson took the reins in 2017. The culture, systems, and legacy built since the late 90s created a self-sustaining winning platform. Robertson was a product of that environment. He thrived in it, extended it, but he didn’t single-handedly create it from scratch.
Maybe his Crusaders success gave a bit of a false sense of security. An assumption that he would automatically replicate that magic with any team, instantly. But the All Blacks job proved to be a very different beast, and Razor couldn’t just transplant the Crusaders culture overnight.
4. Integration
In a perfect world, I think Robertson should have been integrated more gradually into the All Blacks setup. He could have been brought on as an assistant coach under Ian Foster for a couple of seasons, learning the ropes of international rugby, before taking over the head role.
But that’s not what happened. The NZR rather clumsily announced Robertson as the next coach mid-way through Foster’s tenure (while Foster was still set to coach through the 2023 World Cup), creating an awkward dynamic.
When Robertson finally took over in 2024, Foster was gone, and with him went a lot of institutional knowledge. Robertson assembled a new coaching group largely from scratch, bringing his trusted allies. It was an all-new brain trust without Test match experience at the coaching level. As talented as those guys are, that was a gamble and it seems not to have paid off.
So where to now for the All Blacks?
As a fan, I’m hoping for a coach who comes in with a bigger picture than winning the next World Cup. The All Blacks mean more to us as kiwis than just a sports team. They literally shape our culture.
The next coach needs to get that. Needs to carry the responsibility properly. Needs to build something that lasts. Not just a campaign, but a game plan for the future of rugby in this country. Grassroots to top tier. All of it. Vision, humility, courage. That’s what we’re looking for now.

85 line out wins and zero eye-gouges. 👏

What a debut season it was for Fabian Holland 🖤 The most lineouts won of any international player in 2025 🏅

@FleetFeetPeet @RugbyInsideLine It’s worse in video lol. He rakes the eye…

@RugbyInsideLine Freeze Frame jockey, life and the game is not played in freeze frame. Funny how the welsh guy was 100% fine afterwards.

@ChalynRugby Jordan, a good finisher and getting into good positions but not even remotely in the conversations when talking about the best / most destructive AB wingers (Savea, Howlett, Wilson, Lomu, etc.) If we’re honest he very rarely creates any tries, typically just finishes them.
English

Will Jordan has now featured in every World Rugby Men's 15s Dream Team of the Year since it was first presented in 2021 by World Rugby. That’s 5 in a row. 3 at wing and 2 at Fullback. The only player ever to do that. His era ?

@TomOHanlon17 @WorldRugby Even though your argument is silly - at least you’re consistent with it I guess
English

@greybyday @WorldRugby Yes, Lowe, Park and Aki should not be playing for Ireland, it undermines international rugby
Mack Hansen’s mam is Irish, so he’s Irish.
English

@TomOHanlon17 @WorldRugby Do you feel the same about Bundee, James Lowe, JGP, Hansen…?
English

@WorldRugby If there was any integrity in rugby 🏉 eligibility rules Fabian Holland would have been helping his native Netherlands 🇳🇱 to challenge for the European Championship, not playing for a country on the other side of the world he has no family connection to, New Zealand 🇳🇿

@mark_keohane Let’s also ban the fly over, any cultural celebrations before, during or after the game, the anthems, and anything else that actually adds to the atmosphere of our game

BREAKING 🚨: Christian Lio-Willie, Josh Beehre, and Caleb Tangitau have joined the All Blacks squad as training cover this week, while Samipeni Finau and Luke Jacobson have returned back to New Zealand.

Amazon just launched NFTs on ApeChain and barely anyone's talking about it.
Pudgy Penguins on Abstract would've dominated every crypto feed. Pudgies built mindshare that BAYC lost somewhere along the way.
But BAYC is showing up. Putting in work. Building partnerships that actually matter.
The fact that a major retailer is launching NFTs at all means the space is maturing.
Rising tide lifts all boats.
BAYC earning their way back is good for everyone building here.
English

@ChalynRugby He won’t be the replacement this first season - as he’s in the wider training squad, I assume while they bulk him up
English

Should have gone to Highlanders but is he the replacement for Tom Christie for Crusaders ? 👀

I just want to put this out there before me move forward to the rugby World Cup in 2027. I’ve listened to so many podcasts and shows since the All Blacks beat Ireland, and most of them are busy questioning the first 60 minutes instead of giving credit for the last 20.
I get it. criticism drives clicks. The worse the All Blacks play, the better your engagement. But this is beyond pathetic.
People seem to forget a few things:
- We played the world’s No. 3 team on a neutral ground.
- The All Blacks hadn’t played for a month.
- It was a stop–start game and historically, we’ve struggled in those more than anyone.
- Lost the Captain and the Vice Captain in 15 minutes.
We lack cohesion and some of the players were back from major injuries. Cohesion takes time. That was true even in the McCaw–Carter era. The only difference now is we’ve got podcasters willing to sell their soul for views.
Give credit where it’s due. Those 60 minutes were exactly what an All Blacks vs Ireland test should look like. two great sides going at it. The most important thing here is, the team which lost so many winnable games in the last 20 in 2024 actually turned the tables and won a close game. By some margin too. They are heading in the right direction and it’s pretty evident.
I never once felt we’d lose. It was close, but the belief was always there. Maybe that’s because I actually *support* the All Blacks not sit around waiting for them to make a mistake just so I can make content out of it.
The other part is people questioning players’ ability. Mate, this isn’t new. some days are good, some are bad. That’s sport. You only start questioning when it happens too often. But let’s not forget, this is a country that once questioned Dan Carter’s selection. So nothing really surprises me anymore.
So here’s a message to all the so-called experts: appreciate the positives before you pick apart the negatives. And if your biggest complaint is that two elite teams went toe-to-toe for an hour maybe it’s time to stop your podcast and try something else.

@fiercetackles @Brendennel Watch it again. Initially I didn’t see it but Beirne moves to close Barrett’s gap which shows he anticipated the collision. no way was it a surprise as everyone is claiming.
English

I disagree. There was mitigation as in law. The pass was unexpected and put Barrett suddenly in Beirne’s path, that’s literally listed in the HCP as “a late or unexpected event outside the tackler’s control” which must be considered as mitigation. Beirne braced, didn’t swing, and had no time to adjust. By the framework, that should’ve been a yellow, not red.
