@Y_SWargo @woke8yearold @mnolangray Reagan has been out of power for nearly 40 years and dead for over 20. California libs have total power over their state. This dysfunction persists because they want it to persist.

@woke8yearold @mnolangray Asylums and mandatory commitment for severe dysfunctional addiction was the norm before Reagan closed the asylums.

@AntonyArakkal1 @LizzieZ2024 @AuronMacintyre This is the sort of thing people say when they want to deny that a particular identity is rooted in a history and culture that belongs to specific ethnic groups, and to which they have no credible claim. It's erasure via cope.

@AntonyArakkal1 @LizzieZ2024 @AuronMacintyre It's nonsense HR speak that doesn't actually mean anything. Everything she describes about "being Southern" is a vague generality that could apply to any other identity - no one from the North or Mexico or anywhere else would claim to not have a "soul" or "depth".

@HabCorpLinguist I'm no lawyer but I don't believe the standard for corruption should be "It only matters if she financially gains if they win the case". Largely because the whole point of that judicial standard is trust.

@Ichbins8 @SaladBarFan I know at least a couple of cases where they did make it a sticking point. It's a weird bit of ethnic pride, or a mark of dominance, or some psychological tendency whereby Muslims who observe nothing else of the faith will suddenly insist that their partner convert to Islam.

@BigMeanInternet You would have to believe that art is fungible and that the public are cattle who should be content with replacing one old painting with another. Go tell that to the third-worlders who belly-ache about their missing "cultural heritage" that can be replaced; you never would.

@BigMeanInternet Incredibly stupid take that could only come from someone who does not value art at all. Look at the Gardner museum heist in Boston, the masterpieces stolen from there have never been recovered and may be destroyed and lost forever.

Biggest source of contemporary art heists seems to be a Chinese state campaign to reclaim stolen antiquities from Western museums. Which is cool. csmonitor.com/Books/Book-Rev…

@MildredPierce_ @webdevMason Middle-class cosplayers with an odd fetish for petty criminals shouldn't be allowed a serious say in any well-organized society. I feel this just goes without saying.

@MildredPierce_ @webdevMason Because it's very obvious that you think none of this antisocial bullshit you talk about will ever affect you in any way, it's just a way of lashing out at amorphous "billionaires", and so the whole thing is a pathetic tantrum that shouldn't form the basis of any social policy.

@MildredPierce_ @webdevMason I'm not special, I live an average life that gets incrementally better and I am confident in a satisfactory future. If you're not, you can do something about it. Otherwise, it's more honorable to answer the call of that noose in your closet than to keep the revolutionary act.

@grootslang3 @webdevMason And what exactly are you? Are you special bc you resigned yourself to nothing ever getting better? To ppl living miserable lives in the richest country in the world so billionaires can get another yacht? What is even the point of defending this idiocy with your life like this?

@MildredPierce_ @webdevMason Fundamentally you people are all just bored, depressed LARPers who think this will add some substance to your empty, pointless lives. It really won't, and you shouldn't inflict yourself on society as revenge.

@MildredPierce_ @webdevMason When a grocery store packs ups and leaves, you'll claim it's another crime of capitalism, and then run some "public enterprise" that lasts a year before it's shut down for gross losses and a spree of violent robberies. It's all so predictable.

@MildredPierce_ @webdevMason Piker and Tolentino are rich LARPers who just like to talk shit because they think it's cool. The average person who shoplifts isn't doing it to "fight capitalism" and would happily do it to Old Walt's Corner Store too.

@webdevMason Mind you they're talking about Amazon owned Whole Foods and fucking Walmart, but God forbid you chronically disingenuous dorks actually confront the issue instead of pretending they're talking about 'Old Walt's Corner Store' in Wyoming or some shit.

I think its funny that the right thinks clean, efficient trains where there aren’t people pooping on em is their domain. I think the major difference here is the left would prefer to tackle the public order aspects with social workers rather than spamming cops at the problem.
RE-OPEN THE SIZZLERS@SaladBarFan

I think this is largely true, but I think the right is making a mistake in dismissing it for cultural reasons. Transit lies at the intersection of a lot of issues on which the right has a positive vision it wants to enact (efficiency, public order, cleanliness)

@imamickycatnyc So no, it's better to just throw cops at the problem and ignore what the left says about anything.

@imamickycatnyc The reason the left has no credibility on this is because it took multiple high-profile instances of murder and brutality before political considerations forced them to pay lip service to the idea of police involvement.

@nessmess981 @AnechoicMedia_ A far quicker way to accelerate low-trust and third-world mindsets is to import low-trust third world mindsets by the millions. Which party is more in favor of this?

@AnechoicMedia_ Corruption in the White House, over the long term, results in more crime on the street through destruction of trust and respect for the law. Republicans often complain about "low trust" and "importing third world mindsets". Obvious corruption accelerates those things!!

@DBZYuYuYasha @Commander__APE @jmhorp @Noahpinion Most student loans do not add value to society. There is arguably far more value in a rich man taking out a loan to create liquid capital for new investments than there is in 10,000 MFAs from Columbia that create nothing more than unemployable serfs.
