I thank Andrew Hirst for his leadership as Federal Director of the Liberal Party and decades of service to the Coalition cause. I first met Andrew back in 2010 when we were trying to remove a bad Labor Government that had lost control of our borders and were putting carbon and mining taxes on anything that moved. Not much has changed since! But I will miss Andrew in the trenches this time as we once again try to restore our borders and scrap bad Labor taxes. Andrew has the most important qualities of the best political advisers. Andrew is calm under pressure, brings perspective not panic and is mission focused on victory. Those skills will see Andrew succeed in whatever future career he embarks on. Andrew has always been a dependable friend of the Nationals and, on behalf of the Nats, we wish him all the best in the future.
