Keir Starmer’s speech was sad to watch. With so many resets, even his reset button needs a reset. But I do not take pleasure in watching the Prime Minister flounder. The country needs leadership, not another speech from a man who clearly knows something has gone badly wrong, but still can't explain why. This is Labour’s real problem. It is not just Starmer - all the pretenders jostling for his job do not have the answers either, because they all believe the same things: more welfare, more state control, more borrowing, more regulation. They are busy arguing over who should drive the car, but the truth is they are all heading in the wrong direction. They have no vision for the future. What we need is to get Britain working again. That is why I have proposed an alternative King’s Speech with a a clear plan to reward effort, cut the cost of government, secure our borders, rebuild industry and back families who do the right thing. If Labour are serious about fixing the country they could do all of this tomorrow. Whether they have the bravery or the common sense to do that is a different matter.

EXCLUSIVE: Polanski falsely claimed to have worked at the Ministry of Justice while campaigning for elected office. In reality, he was hired by an agency that supplies actors to a quango for courtroom role-play exercises. telegraph.co.uk/politics/2026/…

Zack Polanski and his partner called their narrowboat their “amazing home” for three years. He registered to vote there. If it was his main residence, council tax was due. None was paid. His team says he stayed there only “occasionally” - if true, there's a very big problem.

We did it. Just 18 months ago Labour said a social media ban was not something they were considering. They have now finally committed to social media restrictions for under 16s. This is a huge victory and a pivotal moment for children across our country after months of delay and empty promises. This is down to the courage of bereaved parents who fought not for their own children but for other peoples children. They are the reason I kept fighting and the reason I would not accept a timetable that allowed the Government to avoid action in this Parliament. We now have a more credible delivery timeline and that matters because every month of delay leaves more children exposed to harm. This victory also belongs to the hard work of Lord Nash, teachers, health professionals, parents and children who spoke out and refused to be ignored. Conservatives in opposition said we would fight to protect childhood and stand with parents and we have shown we will hold the Government to account and deliver change.

I am delighted we have forced Labour to see sense and u-turn. This is fantastic news for headteachers, parents & pupils across the country. For over a year, Labour dismissed this as an unnecessary gimmick, and just last week the Education Minister claimed the problem had already been solved. I’m glad they’ve now listened, this is the right step for improving behaviour and raising attainment in our classrooms. news.sky.com/story/phone-ba…
