I made the trip to Columbus in 2017 when we were undefeated and #2 in the country. We were up by 15 in the fourth quarter. I don’t need to tell you what happened next. Being in that stadium with a 15-point lead and watching it disappear in 12 minutes has stuck with me as a fan. The drive back from Columbus was long. Very long. I have been to many Penn State games, but this one still sits differently from any other. The game didn’t define the Franklin era but captured it perfectly. The talent was there. The moment was there. The lead was there. And then it wasn’t. Will Matt Campbell be better? We will find out in the next couple of years. We Are 🦁

@KurtBenkert At some point upside has to become reality. If Kyler can’t succeed in Minnesota then it likely shows he’s not really it.

I’d take Kyler with Detroit roster and scheme over the past few years than Goff. All day every day 24/7. I think Goff is solid but give me the upside and coaching to get the best version out of Kyler. Same thing with Sam Darnold.📈

Makes sense. Drew’s best game was against West Virginia in 2023. Feels like the more he learned here the worse he got. And that’s not a shot at anyone from the past. That’s just how it felt. Elite traits. Hasn’t developed since he was a SR in Ohio

@williampockets @WhiteOutFB I would even argue it can be more than just a final piece thing too. Look at Oregon snagging Raiola, they set themselves up to grab an experienced QB to take over for Moore when he leaves. It allows for adding true depth to teams as well.

@WhiteOutFB The portal is somewhat better than recruiting if you are final piece hunting. You can find a proven college football player with season of experience in some cases.

Dear New Yorkers who have never seen dumpsters. Let me explain what this will do. 1. They will stink. They will get all kinds of gross liquid in them and they will stink. 24/7. Wait for the summer. That’s gonna be so charming. 2. Trash will pile up over and around them. Bc it ALWAYS does. 3. Parking way up. $$$$. I know you don’t think you care but it will cost someone more money which will be passed onto you. 4. These could easily bc homeless shelters. The trash will then be tossed on the streets. 5. Rats will find a way. It will smell like food to them at all times. It will attract them. 6. It’s going to cost a bunch of money. 7. It will be UGLY. They will be covered with all kinds of gross garbage materials. Hence the stinking mentioned earlier. The beautiful streets will be packed with these. Imagine a 100 story building. How big of a dumpster do they need? 8. Will they be moved every other day like cars? How will the street sweepers get around them? 9. And other stuff I haven’t even thought of yet.

I already recognize the key differences with staffs when it comes to recruiting. Feel like Franklin tried making Penn State more appealing & tried hiding the warts whereas Matt Campbell looks at what Franklin would call weakness as strength & is full on embracing it. Love it!
