are there other pieces of media with as wide a gap between its assumed vibe and its actual vibe as “Saturday Night Fever”?

@sulkfenomeno its fudged data. happy to have back line have an onslaught against them because the stats probably say they're low xG chances. but that clearly doesnt tell the whole story. slot has said the data shows thid season is an outlier and it wont happen again. load of crap

It’s a joke how easy Liverpool are to play through. Like watching us under Ten Hag again. What are Dutch coaches obsession with leaving the midfield completely vacant?

@johngibbonsblog the bigger problem is giving them the time and space to take the shot in the first place. need to solve the problem at its source, and thats on slot for how bad we are OOP. hes happy to take the risk because its 'low xG' but then youre creating your own bad luck

Just watched the highlights from yesterday 🙃 We’ve conceded so many deflected goals this season from turning our backs to the shot

@dlmjnk @Knox_Harrington his OOP worked with klopp profile players. we lost diaz, jota, nunez, and bought technical players with less physicality and athleticism. he refuses to compensate by making us compact so he we get exposed with his crap +1 at the back approach so our midfield lose their battles

@Knox_Harrington All true/fair. So what the bloody hell has happened this season?! We’ll never know the full extent of the impact of the loss of Jota. With hindsight, we also tore up too much. Too many players left. Diaz has been a huge loss. Trent too.

It’s rare I question or disagree with @Knox_Harrington but is Slot really an elite manager who gets the best out of elite players? What evidence or justification is there for that?

@dan_clubbe everything about this team screams high intensity pressing higher up the pitch to get the most out of the technical players so they can have more touches in transition closer to goal. squeezing the pitch also favours the technical team with physical weaknesses. but...we have Slot

So many problems, some of them excusable and some not in my opinion! But, it’s May and I can’t help but be underwhelmed by Florian Wirtz so far. Understand he didn’t have a ‘proper striker’ today but he’s got the talent to singlehandedly win games and we’re just not seeing it…

Have wondered about this. Here’s my theory: I think it’s sort of the opposite. But it is born, at least in part, in the place you’re talking about. I don’t think it’s love; I think it’s a kind of indifference. By which I mean, it’s like City don’t count and people — who see them (whether rightly or wrongly) as operating on a different plane and with different rules etc — are kind of resigned to them and have reached an acceptance. So, for fans of teams like, say, Liverpool or (even) United (despite being rivals in Manchester), if City win the league: shrug, yeah, whatever, what you gonna do? If this year Arsenal or in previous years Liverpool win the league — who you are competing with on the same level, who are your peers/challengers, for want of a better word, whose title win would be as good as yours would have been — it actually does hurt and it does mean something. It’s a “real” title win…and thus, by extension, a real title loss for your team. And I suspect that goes beyond just fans of those teams too to become more generalized. I know, I know, plenty of people will really dislike this, from both sides of the argument, and I might have to hide from the @s now as they all shout at me, but it’s about people’s perceptions and I reckon there’s something in that. Anyway, sorry: a long tweet. Just a theory.

@Dostoevskyquot films by Nuri Bilge Ceylan. Winter Sleep takes bits from the brothers Karamazov. The Wild Pear Tree, About Dry Grasses and Once upon a time in Anatolia are also great.

@mlupescu0509 @SteKelly198586 because the bar is that low, id say yes. no one needs to be klopp. he just needs to have principles which he can stick to, even through adversity. not the constant chopping and changing from slot, who went from pragmatist to idealist back to pragmatist and was bad OOP regardless

@BosZackLMreds @AnfieldSector the way he sets the team up OOP requires serious athletes/ground coverage because theyre not compact. the space between the lines and his +1 at the back sets us up to fail. his vision of football is with the handbrake on which is not needed when you have isak, ekitike and wirtz.

@gsian @AnfieldSector He doesn’t need Klopp-style player profiles. He needs pace not Salah, but someone like Olise or Gordon. He needs midfielders, not Endo or Szoboszlai, but Zubimendi or Rice. He needs a CB, but not Van Dijk’s current level. He got his own profile. Now its jusf 5/6 out of 11 XI.

@BosZackLMreds @AnfieldSector its because he had klopp profile players working their socks off (szobo, nunez, diaz, jota). now we only have one of those. slot wants technical ability in possession but needs klopp players OOP because of how he sets the team up. hes still blind to this and hes not gona change

@AnfieldSector Last season we used the same “OOP” setup and still won the EPL. Why? Because we had depth, quantity, and quality. So the so‑called “stupid OOP from Slot” can still deliver trophies if the squad has enough balance and strength. Simple as that.
