Mr Moyse raises several interesting question in this piece for the @BeatNorthern In relation to the 2 most recent, and might I add fundamentally different, modern treaties introduced this week in the legislature, Moyse draws attention to the NDP’s insistence on including UNDRIP within them: “Since UNDRIP is in many respects inconsistent with section 35 of the Constitution, the interpretation and implementation of these treaties may ultimately not conform to Canadian law as a result of these provisions.” Niceties aside, this is very serious. We don’t know how UNDRIP, now being the “authoritative source for the interpretation” of these treaties, may be viewed by the courts in 2, 5, 10 years. This is so unfortunate to see, and this is becoming an all too common reality. We are in a post-secondary crisis in BC, and our institutions need sustainable support. If our universities and colleges are not stable, we’re going to see more of our workforce leave this province.

I really didn't comment much when this came out last year, but seeing it crop up again, I need to say something. This is a terrible, and elitist, take. I appreciate what @colewhogan is trying to say here, but the derision for people who may actually feel comfortable calling themselves "Blue Liberals" or "Red Tories" is palpable in this commentary. Yes, I absolutely know people under 40 who identify as these, and others. And yes, I know people in the sub-40 age range (of which I'm one year removed) who don't identify or understand what these identifications mean or where they come from. So we have a conversation and I explain the historical context we discuss. The biggest issue I see on the right, and I saw it on the left, is a self-satisfied dismissiveness that does more to drive people apart than create understanding.

All the Conservatives need is a new, more moderate leader and the media will be nice to them. Oh wait...

They hated harper, they hated O'Toole, they hated Scheer, the Hate Poilievre. They literally say the same things about every Conservative leader... when will Canadians realize that it doesn't matter who the leader is? They will be vilified, bullied relentlessly, lied about, dehumanized, belittled, copied and then shamed while the person who copied them is praised... It's been the same pattern for decades.

I appreciate the work of police responding quickly and making arrests. But I think I speak for the community when I say people don’t feel safe. Two stabbings in two days. Youths in hospital. One of these attacks happened right by my office. This is weak NDP policy. Criminals feel more comfortable than the people who follow the rules. You pay your taxes, do things by the book, and still feel like you have to keep your head on a swivel just to get through the day.

Rutherford should have no further part in changes within this organisation. The damage hes done in 4 years is borderline incomprehensible if we hadn't lived it. His lack of accountability shows he isn't fit to make any further hires. This needs to be a full restructure top down
