10 points is an absolute disgrace. Everton are fully justified in launching an appeal and it has felt all the way through that there has been an ambition to make an example of the club. If 10 points is a baseline, what happens if the club facing 115 charges is deemed guilty?

Everton deducted ten points with immediate effect. They will feel hard done by, not because they’ve been punished for breaking the profit & sustainability rules but because there are bigger concerns over other clubs who seemingly aren’t going to face any sanctions at all.
