To me, there are only few modern languages that can be called simple: Odin, Austral, OCaml, Scheme, Lua, C3, and Go. Most other widely loved / used languages like Rust, Zig, C++ etc. are fairly complex. Now the dilemma is: Users seem to prefer the complex languages more. Why?

@Pirat_Nation Technically valve is right to a point. There is technically no difference between that and buying a bunch of TCG card booster packs hunting for rare cards and then reselling them on ebay. (pic related) You could argue that they also own the marketplace, profiting from reselling.

Valve has published its official response to the New York Attorney General's lawsuit regarding loot boxes in Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and Team Fortress 2. They describe cosmetic items as equivalent to collectible trading cards with no effect on gameplay, and reject the claim that they constitute illegal gambling. Valve states it has already taken extensive action against unauthorized third-party gambling sites, including locking over one million accounts and imposing trade restrictions. The company is opposing the AG's demands to make items non-transferable and to collect additional user data, calling those requirements excessive. If the Attorney General prevails, Valve warns that New York players could lose the ability to sell or trade their digital items.

@mahirusoldier Personally i think SAO was good, but it just went downhill from the end of the "SAO" arc onwards. The implied incest stuff, genderbent kirito and the growing harem sublot were a mistake. People mainly hating on SAO because of this and the obnoxious weeb fandom of its time.

@SebAaltonen why would you need to read the whole 16GB of ram in a single frame at 120Hz?

How much RAM can CPU read every frame? 16GB at 120Hz = 1920GB/s 1GB at 120Hz = 120GB/s (almost) 512MB at 120Hz = 60GB/s (OK) You can read ~512MB (3%) out of your 16GB RAM. RAM has become our storage system. Can't read it fully :(

Europe needs homegrown, low-carbon energy sources. Nuclear & renewables together have a key role to play Nuclear energy is available around the clock, providing electricity all year. Europe has been a pioneer in nuclear technology. And can lead again ↓ twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…

@veritasium plus, if the bot predicted you, your choice was right because otherwise you would get nothing by choosing the other box, and if it predicted wrong, you just get an extra 1M, you always win.

There is no pure independence in nuclear energy. To have nuclear industry Europe will need uranium, which it doesn’t have. The only option is to import it from former Soviet Union states, like Kazakhstan, from Africa or from Australia. It is same dependence as importing LNG or oil but on a FEWER suppliers.

@mr_Smith_Econ @vonderleyen The EU literally has no other option now, its either this or be completely dependent on Russian/American oil to even function. The only option now is to push for this+electric cars to try and survive somehow. The current energy crisis is no joke

@iced_coffee_dev Another (rarer) issue is when you get models ported from a different format or not designed to be used as glb, where all the models reference a huge common texture atlas so when you convert each model to glb the entire atlas file gets copied inside the glb for each model

@iced_coffee_dev One thing i realized when working with gltf is that i usually find textures that are way bigger res than they need, and very often uncompressed. I set up my own scripts to extract textures, downscale and compress and that alone can reduce the model to 1/10 the original size.

Most online tools only optimize file size, but they're still reinflated in memory. This tool will optimize your GLTF/GLB assets and export to GPU-compressed KTX2, entirely client-side. Try it here: gltf-optimizer.simondev.io #threejs #gamedev
