NEVER SEE THE SOORYODAYA OR THE RISING SUN What is the Sandhya kaala or Sandhya duration? It is the duration of 48 minutes before the daily sunrise (and sunset). Dharma Shastra says that during this time, Sandhyavandana must be done such that, you start doing it by offering Gayatri Arghya when the sky is dark, pre-dawn and you complete it once the sun has risen. You chant the Gayatri Upasthana (send off) mantra finally once the sun has risen. During the exact moment of sunrise, you must be closing your eyes and meditating, looking inward and doing Gayatri japa What this means is that Shastra clearly says that you must never directly see or witness the sunrise. Our Rishis go on to strictly say that if one defies this rule and sees the Sooryodaya, 800 Gayatri japas are prescribed as a Prayaschitta Parihara. Shastra says Lord Sooryanarayana is like a Raja or a king and when a king comes in his chariot in his kingdom (his Bhavani), his subjects don't see him directly. They see his entourage, his chariot etc but they don't see him directly in the eye out of respect for the Raja. Shastra says similarly that you must not see Lord Soorya rising or the Sooryodaya. Bhishma from Anusasana Parva of Mahabharata - "One should never look at the rising sun" Manu Smriti - "Let him never look at the rising sun" Apastamba Smriti - "He should avoid looking at the sun as it rises" Vishnu - "He shall not look at the sun rising" Yājñavalkya (1.137) Rishi - "He shall not look at the rising sun, ..." Pāraskara Rishi - "He shall not do the following- looking at a water-reservoir, tree-climbing, fruit-gathering, entering a man-hole, public bathing, traversing dangerous situations, looking at the sun, and begging." Bodhayana Rishi - "He shall not look at the sun at the time of rising" Harita Rishi - "He shall not look at the rising sun" Now that you have learnt this important Dharma Shastra knowledge, ensure that you and your families never see the rising sun henceforth #IYKYK

Bharat Dress Code 1. All companies operating in India must allow Bindi, Sindoor, Dhoti and other Indian dresses and traditional wearables. They are all part of Bharat's dressing norms for ages. They have been common till recently, and better suited to climate of India. In fact, a modern Dhoti or Veshti would be wonderful dress for entire world - healthier, easier to make, easy to maintain, more functional. If Arabic nations can allow or rather give preference to their traditional dresses in offices over western dresses, why not India? 2. They can enforce standardizations to make sure no one Bollywoodizes them. 3. Hijab must be banned. Be it burqa or head-scarf. Why? Because it has become part of a conversion racket to enforce Islam on non-Muslims, in India and across globe. People hostile to Hindus have been even celebrating a stupid World Hijab Day when they force Hijab on non-muslims. Workplaces must make sure they no way allow any such conversion agendas. 4. Similarly, skull-cap is for prayers. No one must be allowed to wear them in workplace. 5. Overall, Bharat is Bharat. It is neither a colony of Britain, nor a laboratory for conversions. Any decent dress or wearable that is free of colonial or conversion agendas must be encouraged. And all conversion-mindset stuff must be banned.

Men seem to think it is women's job alone to keep bottu. Bro! Blank forehead is inauspicious for both genders. And when you don't do it, how one can lecture women? Reminds me of an incident in one of my previous workplaces. Had a scholar colleague there who always came with Kumkuma on his forehead. One day he wasn't wearing it. I held back for a while but finally asked him why he wasn't keeping Kumkuma. He realised and was also surprised that he forgot. That day, I had my travel kit with me which always has Kumkuma and gave him that. There the third colleague remarked "One day let him enjoy modernity no, madam?" He did not mean offence. But the feel that blank forehead means "enjoying modernity" for a "poor traditional man" - There is a civilisational rot we suffer. There is no "modernity" within moral bounds that a Bindi stops us from "enjoying". (I eat out, travel alone, at times go to movies alone.) Then there are times when people observed my glass bangles and said I am "very confident and forward for my appearance". That too is a food for thought. If we feel other Hindus are giving in to weak perceptions, we practicing ones should do what we can to change it.

Nine Yards of Grace Before it became heritage, the graceful nine yard saree of Maharashtra, or the नऊवार was a habit, the unhurried habit of woman confident in their femininity. The nauvari, Maharashtra’s nine-yard sari, with it’s काष्टा drawn up between the legs, tucked firm at the waist, its pallav falling free over the left shoulder casually, it’s jari catching the light in a thousand different luminous ways is not just a drape. It is anatomical architecture of the female form, with all its graceful curves. The legendary painter Raja Ravi Varma fell so in love with the Marathi nine-yard drape, that he painted all his Goddesses and celestial women in luminous nine yards, Saraswati in pristine white, Lakshmi in crimson red, Damayanti in a luminous pinkish red, an anonymous portrait of a lady in her iconic black-and-gold nauvari, incidentally, also recreated by Anagha Ghaisas for Saudamini Handloom. The nauvari sarees in his paintings speak a language of their own. M.V. Dhurandhar, the artist born of this soil, painted his nauvari-clad women doing everyday activities, carry water, tend to children, water the Tulasi plant, carry the weight of a whole civilisation, and do so with a lightness that only the deeply rooted possess. That is what the nauvari does. It does not flatten a woman into a size zero stereotype, It finds her shape, celebrates it. As I draped this resplendent pink nine-yard paithani from Saudamini Handloom in a revival design from a museum piece, I was thinking to myself, that once, nine yards was exactly enough to be a woman fully in the world: moving, working, worshipping, enduring. Not a yard more. Not a yard less! #sareeswag

The #DMK appears to be making a concerted effort to reach out to #Brahmin voters. Durga Stalin interacted with members of the Madhva Brahmin community yesterday. DMK questions #Hinduism, rejects belief in God, and aligns itself with EVR's ideology. Yet, during elections, it turns to Brahmins seeking votes.

Just saw Muslims on the platform 2 at Chennai Central in the morning doing their namaz blocking the entire platform width. Men and women. They can’t do it at home and come or what? Why do they need to show that they are religious in public while blocking their way!? That too orama panna mudiyathu. They have to show that they are very religious no? @DrmChennai @GMSRailway can you please enforce some civic discipline or create a common prayer room for them to pray in?

@rajeshsawhney Aurobindo focused on evolution, and Vivekananda on service. Osho & JK rejected all philosophies&structures, focusing on existential psychological inquiry. Osho added celebratory dimension to this spiritual spectrum. While Krishnamurti rejected all methods. All not in one basket

@labstamil @KishoreIyer5 The taste of touching brahmins in Tamil cinema in appropriately seems to be in their DNA, Another recent movie "youth" displays the top 10 rank holders in a flex board and deliberately keeps the 10 th rank holder as a b and the hero is 9th and shoots scenes right before that.
