@OCpatriot_ If you are referring to the missile that may have damaged the F35, It was like a portable heat seeking missile. This will always be a vulnerability of the F35.

Let me spell this out for you! The opening of the strait is not our primary military objective. It never was! You think that putting our ships in harms way to protect other countries oil is a wise thing to do.? Not our oil! Show me where in the primary objectives of the President and the War Department mentions keeping the strait open? This will happen once the other objectives are met. Then the countries that have ship in this area need to protect it. Again why should or would we but our ships in a vulnerable spot. Only takes one lucky drone or missile to get past the defenses. Not our ships not our oil!

Question: If we're winning the war, we have complete air dominance, we're wiping out Iranian rockets and drones, and Iran seems to be on its last legs, WHY IS THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ CLOSED? Why can't we send US Navy warships into the Persian Gulf? Why did they all depart when the war began? How are we going to conduct and then support USMC amphibious operations along the Strait of Hormuz or on Kharg Island WITH NO SHIPS in the Persian Gulf?

According to the Wall Street Journal, citing multiple U.S. officials, Iran has targeted the joint U.S.-UK base at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean with two intermediate-range ballistic missiles (IRBM). According to the report, one missile failed in flight whilst the other was engaged by a U.S. destroyer utilizing an SM-3 interceptor, but a successful interception was not confirmed. None of the missiles hit the base. This is notable as Iranian long-range precision fires have not previously been publicly assessed as having the range to hit such a target as Diego Garcia, as the base is some 4,000 kilometers from Iran proper.
