Lots of user positivity about EPO ViCo - good news because we may not have a choice for some time! Enlarged Board’s main reservation was whether ViCo, though acceptable, was good enough - will be interesting to see how this plays out.

The largest ever response to an EPO survey supports our position - that oral proceedings held via video are fit-for-purpose and work well. We look forward to videoconference becoming the default format at @EPOorg.

G1/21 reasoning is out - restricted to emergencies still but: ViCo is a legitimate Oral Proceeding; not yet as good as in person though, they reckon, so they may lean towards default to in-person but with final discretion with Appeal Board. I think this view will change with time
