@halfprism_ riddim + tech house are like any other genre, if it's good music it's good music but there's a lot of boring stuff to sift through. ilmc i enjoy but can sympathize, worlds is extremely of its time. hard techno needs to fuck off and either go full gabber or psycore already.

my electronic music hot takes: riddim is a good genre (even square 4) tech house is not always bad ilmc by ninajirachi is overrated worlds by porter robinson is overrated modern hard techno sucks and is just a stepping stone to hardstyle atmospheric jungle is overrated

@DjFred_Eddison @lucatimusic exactly this. if you're make music on a computer as an individual, DJing is the most accessible and often most sensible way to "perform" that music. pop stars can sing but what can a lone producer do that goes deeper than triggering stems?

@lucatimusic I have a theory on this. For a producer , it’s the equivalent of taking the band on the road. “Deejaying” is the only real medium to perform your music. So what else are they really going to do. 🤷‍♂️

now that i think about it... how does making a hit song have any relation to DJing? those are two completely different pursuits but somehow if you hit number 1, you play DJ sets as your performance and if you're a great DJ... that doesnt inherently make you a great producer
