This is what happens when a vulnerability moves from “technical report” to “real-world weapon.” The moment something like an auth bypass hits a control panel like cPanel, it stops being just a bug and becomes an entry point into thousands of live servers. At that point, attackers are not experimenting anymore, they are scaling. Dropping ransomware is just the fastest way to turn access into profit. What most people are not paying attention to is how fast this transition happened. From discovery to active exploitation to ransomware deployment, all in a very short window. That tells you these actors already understand the environment they are targeting. They know where to land, what to deploy, and how to move before anyone reacts. This is not noise, this is coordinated activity. If you are still treating patches and monitoring as something to “get to later,” this is exactly how systems get taken over quietly.
