Moderators of the r/Linux subreddit are now censoring posts which talk about Age Verification.
Not only are posts being removed, but I’ve heard from multiple Reddit users who have been banned from r/Linux for expressing opposition to Age Verification.

@eric_stanek @LundukeJournal Geo blocking their website but still having the ability to get the software a number of diff ways means the software is still able to be distributed & not violating GPL. Same as if they stopped paying hosting fees & went back to torrents only. Brazil can get a torrent link still.

@thenatous @skytechgaming Yeah, AMD, Crucial, etc. are believable. It's the rando influencers with amazing giveaways like sketch here. I've seen several "exposed" vids where a bigger YouTube outs another one fake giveaway stuff and since then none are trustworthy to me.

Brazil's Age Verification law goes into full effect in less than 12 hours (Mar 17th).
This law says that all Operating Systems, in use in Brazil, must do age verification for all user accounts... or face $9.5 Million (USD) in fines per violation.
The government of Brazil has stated that they are "monitoring" several companies and systems for compliance, including Canonical (Ubuntu Linux) and IBM (Red Hat & Fedora Linux) as well as Epic Games and Valve (Steam).

Ready for another age verification bill? Alabama has passed HB-161, which was signed into law on February 17th. - Requires that App Stores verify the age of all users upon account creation. - Requires parental (adult) accounts to control child (minor) accounts. - Requires App developers utilize App Store age verification API’s to restrict content for minors. - Age verification, of adults, to be done via “commercially available methods”. Age of a minor account can be set by the linked adult account without ID checks or other “Commercially available methods”. - Specifically only applies to mobile device (smartphones or tablets).
