There's a lot of things that can be said about this - like the fact the Democratic Party was led for four year by someone who couldn't talk - but the main thing is it's really hard to distill "real wage growth and steady job growth was already happening by the time Trump took office - and in fact it slowed from the final years under Obama - and you're remembering it so fondly because of a combination of pre-COVID nostalgia, Trump's successful branding, and rightful dissatisfaction with inflation, which was a worldwide problem and was worse in other countries but is also calling attention to uniquely American affordability problems which you are correct to be mad at, let's talk about them" into a campaign message

Glad to see that DNC autopsy concludes that inability to convey Trump's dangerous extremism to voters was an important failing. I wonder if the centrists smugly insisting ideological perceptions of the two candidates were all-important will engage with this part of that story.

Trump is becoming my litmus test. If you’re a fan of his, I have no other choice but to assume you’re low-IQ, probably have a very tumultuous personal life, and have been completely stripped of your ability to form your own opinions. P.S. Thomas Massie embodied everything Trump ran on in 2016. Trump knows this and hates it. In his eyes, he must always be seen as the king. He won’t accept anything less. Massie’s record was stellar, to the point where most Americans would even say Massie is more conservative than Trump. This was one of the primary reasons he was ousted.

@haleyngreen___ Yeah, the only evidence anyone cites for that ad's effectiveness is how good/dangerous it looked That's why I am so skeptical about it, especially when the environment was so bad for Dems everywhere and the exitpoll of swing voters insisted it's about the economy/immigration

"Targetted ads worked well" is a great way to explain Hillary's loss because she did so much better outside swing states with no targetted ads. This is nonsense because Harris did so much worse outside the states with targetted ads. Worst results in New York in 50 years

@haleyngreen___ I can see this making a difference when the candidates aren't polarizing, maybe Obama vs Romney But I doubt something like this makes a difference when choosing between Harris and Trump Not to mention that they've tried this in so many elections before/after 2024 and failed

I have been warning for some time that there are numerous signs Trump intends to meddle in the midterms. The Massie vote count is suspicious, at the very least. 38,000 new voters compared to 2024 turnout, and they ALL went to the opponent. Meanwhile, Massie got fewer votes than his 2024 numbers despite record turnout? Hype alone doesn't explain that, particularly given how deeply unpopular Trump is. Add to it the 10,854 mail-in ballots the opponent got while Massie only lost by 10,280 votes. It's impossible to prove anything with this information, but it doesn't look right at all.

I just learned that Florida has a “Free Kill” law where if you die due to medical malpractice and you were 25 and older, unmarried, with no children, your family cannot sue for wrongful death. My mind is blown. I thought it was bs. I had to go look it up
