@BattleAxeVR I had the Megatron gun as a kid. Fond memories of running round my grandparents house with it. It wasn’t a robust toy at all though. Pretty sure broke in no time… I think Soundwave and Grimlock were my favourites,

@ham4tw Those could be worth something! I am on the lookout for an Ultra-Magnus figure with separate armour suit that can fit on an Optimus figure, but with modern articulation instead of G1. That was the coolest combo I never got to own/use as a kid.

@BattleAxeVR Haha same! Also brilliant 80s soundtrack. My parents are having their roof redone and it turns out there’s some original G1 transformers in their loft/attic.

@ham4tw Classic. I cried in the cinema as a kid when Optimus died. Such a bummer. It was definitely a cool subplot to have Ultra Magnus be unable to step up and fill Optimus' shoes. Although I was very glad when Optimus returned in the next season.

@GoonItForward @BattleAxeVR Some I have e.g. Gravity, but given the choice between Quest 3 or very light weight 3D glasses and a projector, both my wife can watch together, the big screen wins easy. There’s a few hoops to watch it VR too. I’m still annoys my PSVR2 and PS5 doesn’t play movies directly.

Latest 3D bargain for the collection £1.50! If you can take the time figure it out it’s well worth watching 3D movies in #VR or on a #3D capable projector.

@BattleAxeVR Dredd 3D I actually have, just haven’t got round to sitting and watching yet. My full 3D collection so far, mostly bought used on the cheap. All are native 3D recorded (apart from Avengers and Piranha 3D done is post - before I knew better 😞)

@ham4tw I should check it. One of the best 3D Blurays I own is Dredd. TRUST me, the 3D in it is awesome. They don't shy away from it, they "lean in". VR watching 3D movies could be near on OLED, assuming HMD Hz is a multiple of 24 (most aren't, sadly. 90/24=3.75), or use interpolation.

@BattleAxeVR Also agree, Xreal are a superb form factor for movie watching or pairing with Steam deck or smart phone on flights.

4 (cont): this idea that we should design $5000 VR headsets around optimizing watching movies in an airplane, when, frankly, an XReal Air One pair of AR glasses at 86g would do much better + more comfortably, is ludicrous overkill. If it was so🔥, why did Vision Pro not take off?

VALID GAME-RELATED CRITIQUES of Frame: 1) IPS LCD w/ 650:1 FOFO contrast spec (before lenses, after it's ~200:1) harms immersion. OLED makes games more immersive, especially PC VR games with PBR lighting and ESPECIALLY with path tracing. Trust me. You'll see. PSVR 2 >>> FRAME!

@BattleAxeVR This I agree with. For night flights, dark rally stages and space games on the PSVR2, it’s beats my other LCD headsets, even with local dimming and better lens. Daytime scenes and resolution, not so much. I’m probably going to hold out for a Frame OLED model 😛

@KlayLincoln Yep roughly 3060 GPU power, it’s intended as small form factor living room console/low end gaming PC hybrid. You definitely don’t need one of these and is no way near powerful enough for Sim related VR.

@ham4tw According to Digital Foundry it's in between a 3060 and a 4060, that tells me what I need to know, I believe it'll struggle to run our racing games in VR and I believe it won't run ACC in VR at all, I think they'll charge $600 but I wouldn't want to pay more than $500
